So today is Elissa and my one year anniversary. And man, does time fly! I know I have a ton of good memories from dating Lis...and I'm pretty sure she has some good memories of dating me as well. ;-)
I'd have to say the thing I appreciate most about Lis (as a girlfriend) is her seemingly infinite patience with me. I know I can be a stubborn ass some days, and I'm rather quirky in my life (who'da thunked it?) -- but she takes it all in stride and still cares for me in spite of my shortcomings.
I love the fact that I have a girlfriend who's also a good friend. There have been times when I've dated girls who weren't really friends (just girlfriends) and also dated girls who were really only friends and nothing more (tho I don't regret a single moment with the people I've dated and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat). But it's been pretty rare that I've dated someone who was a girlfriend and really just a good friend.
I also really appreciate the fact that I can have an intellecutal conversation with Lis. She's a very (VERY) smart person on a wide range of topics which means we can sit down and discuss anything from genetics to religion to politics to random trivia and I don't have to worry that she won't be able to keep up with me. Of course, when I sit and talk about computers her eyes tend to glaze over... but I'm sure I do the same thing when she talks about biology and chemistry. :-P
Even tho we've had our good days and our crazy days, I'd say I'm a very happy, and lucky, boy to have such a wonderful girlfriend to spend the last year with.

You're the best Aaron! It's been an amazing year getting to know you and just getting through life with you. You've been so great in the times I've needed you and we've had a lot of fun the rest of the time. The early morning snowball fight on valentine's day is still one of my favorite memories. I hope I make you as happy as you make me and that we have many more happy memories together. Happy anniversary!
