Stupid Yankee Fans

So I watched the Red Sox/Yankees game last night and I must say: while I am happy with the outcome of the game, I am very sad about the behavior of the fans.

For those of you who may have missed it... at two points during the game the umpires had to call the players off the field because the fans were throwing baseballs onto the field. Basically, the fans with upset with some very valid calls that the umpires made (this was probably the most technically correct baseball game I have ever seen) and so they started throwing anything handy down onto the field.

Aside from the fact that people who are too ignorant of the rules of the game should not be given voice to complain about the calls that the umpires make, I felt the game should have been called off. In other sports, when fans act like rude and obnoxious children, the home team is levied a very stiff penalty of some sort. In hockey, there's a 2 (or 5) minute penatly where the home team plays short-handed. In football, there's a yardage loss for the home team. However, in baseball, there are no such penalties -- and I think that's a shame. The score was 4-1 and it was the 8th inning -- I would have just called the game off and said "we're done now, go home." People who act like immature brats have no right to sit and watch a baseball game. And yes, that spoils it for the thousands of fans who are well-behaved and not throwing hard projectiles because of a call they're too stupid to comprehend (like their moronic counterparts), but that's the way life works. A few idiots are always given the chance to spoil it for the majority of the people. And frankly, I'm OK with that when it comes to things like entertainment. Last night, there were riot police on the field. At that point, the game ceases to be entertainment. Skip the riot police sitting along the walls while the game continues. Have them announce that the game has been called on account of mob violence and make the "fans" leave -- the game should be over at that point.

It's dangerous to have a ball thrown at you from the upper-deck. Phsyics aside, there's no way for you to see the ball coming at you from behind. It's immature, dangerous and is extremely poor sportsmanship. And I hope every numbskull who was throwing things last night never watches another professional sport again.

Honestly... I hope New York loses Game 7 if for no other reason than to get those hundred or so worthless, whiny oafs out of a baseball stadium where they obviously have no right to be. In New York, baseball is no longer about baseball -- it's about idiot fans and armchair umpires. They don't deserve a penant.

They are just pissed that they spent all this money and not be winning all the time..

Not counting endorsements...

Alex Rodriguez $21,726,881 + Derek Jeter $18,600,000 = $40,326,881.00

Don't even get me started on A-Hole Rodriguez. He was most of the cause for people to start throwing crap from the stands last night. As he ran down first base, he deliberately swatted the ball out of the pitcher's hand as he was being tagged out. It was about as obvious as you can get. And the man had the balls to throw his hands up in the air like it was some sort of injustice that he ended being called out. Quit whining and play the damn game fair.
