I know I've griped about comment spam before. But this is just ludicrous. I woke up this morning to 94 pieces of comment spam. And throughout the day I've gotten another 67 messages (as of now, and the day isn't over). No one should have to put up with 150+ pieces of comment spam. That's just insane. It's about 6 comments an hour for the entire day. Thankfully the spam filtering I wrote for the blog has caught every single comment and none have been publically posted.
The current deluge is using spoofed IPs, so I can't track them down. But if I am able to find the person who pointed their bot at my blog, I will destroy them. As it stands, I've gotten so much spam today that I need modify my blog software so that I can do a mass-delete of all comments awaiting moderation.
Damn spammers!!!
On a happy note, I get to see a lot of friends tonight (in about 3 hours) for bowling night! I'm currently expecting close to 20 people to show up, but only about 10 have RSVPed officially. We'll see how many people come -- the weather is pretty crappy today. I've had anywhere from 5 people to 30 people show up for these bowling nights, but they're always a blast.
Meggan goes home to LA tomorrow morning. She hates flying, so I hope the weather gets better so she can fly out a little easier. I don't head back to Austin until Sunday. I'm of two minds about going back to Austin. I miss Elissa, and I miss Pixel, and I would like to get back to work... but I just don't want to go back. I'd much rather bring all the things I like about Texas up to Minnesota instead. :: sighs :: oh well... In any case, I do head back on Sunday.
I picked up Elissa's Christmas gift last night. I like it, so hopefully she does as well. She better. ;-) I keep giving her absolutely no information about what it is, so those of you who know what it is, don't say anything. Or lie. :-P She said she got my Christmas gift as well, so it'll be a fun exchange when I get back to Austin. I'm still shopping for Pixel, but she doesn't mind if her gift doesn't get bought until after I get back. She's a cool cat like that. :-D
I hope I get to see snow before I leave. It's been a really shitty "winter" so far. It was freaking 49 degrees today! FOURTY-FIVE! In DECEMBER! There's basically no snow on the ground; what little was there was melted today when it rained. Sheesh! And to think -- our brilliant president still claims that there's nothing goofy with weather lately. Let's see... 50 in MN in late Dec. No snow. Snow in HOUSTON (like a foot of snow at that!). Tornadoes in LA. I mean, come on.... how stupid do you have to be to realize things are rather wonky, and just keep getting worse? Bleh!
Well, I'm off to get ready for the party tonight. Hopefully everyone who is coming drives safe! And for those of you who can't make it, I hope you're having a great evening!
My night was awesome!! My friends rock, and I had such a wonderful time seeing them all again tonight. I am a damn lucky guy.
