Just on the off-chance anyone really wants to get me a gift for the holidays, here's my unabridged wish list. I also accept cash or PayPal donations. ;-)
1) A good copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES. I really wish I hadn't given that game to a friend when I was through playing it. I was young and stupid. I'm older now and realize the folly of my ways. Someone set things right for me and get me this game! Sure it's over 100$ on eBay to find one of good quality -- but I'm worth it, right? I'll also take any old-school RPG for the SNES that I don't already own.
2) A house. I'm getting damn tired of living in an apartment. I think my apt is nice and all; it's not like I'm living in squallor or anything. But a house would be a wonderful thing to own.
3) Books. Lots and lots of books. I'll take anything you have (that I don't already have) except for those damn soft-porn "books" (read: romance novels) or other crappy stuff like that. I love to read, and I always find myself wishing I had more books to pour through. My favorite authors/genres are: classics (by just about any author), Sci-fi/fantasy (Robert Jordan, Mercedes Lackey, JRR Tolkien, Raymond Fiest, David Eddings, Marion Zimmer Bradely, etc), historical fiction (like anything by Morgan Llywelyn), Anne Rice, Douglas Adams, the list goes on and on. Make me a library.
4) Toys for my computer. I have a laptop, and I get bored some days. So buy me things that I can program (like Lego Mindstorms, or Robosapiens). Or buy me video games for the laptop (more on this later). The only software I really want someone to buy me is a nice, legal copy of WS_FTP Home (or Pro if you're feeling like giving a lot). All my other software is already bought and paid for. I would also like a drawing tablet (like a Watcom tablet) so I can start making new Ramblings comics. :-D
5) I would love to find a pocket geek to play Magic the Gathering with. None of this new-school shit that Wizards has been flooding the market with. I want a good, old-school Magic player (pre-R3, R4, R5 and not much beyond that) who likes to play for shits and giggles, and enjoys playing against a person who makes sadistic decks for fun.
6) Toys for Pixel. Hey, she deserves some holiday treats too damnit! And someone has to speak up for her.
7) Video games. I know I already asked for Chrono Trigger, but this is different. This covers more terrain. I want someone to help me fix my NES. None of the games get a good connection with the housing and so they all just flicker. I've tried rubbing alcohol, but to no avail. Once the NES is working, I want every game for it. Well, every game that didn't totally blow. I would especially love 1942, all Super Mario Bros, the original Final Fantasy (as well as other awesome RPGs), etc. You already know what I want for the SNES. ;-) For the N64, I want an XBoX. The N64 is a pile of shit that should burn in the depths of hell. There are almost no good games for it! For the PS2 (since who needs PS 1 games anymore?) I want Worms 3D, and other good action games. Oh yeah, and I also want the 20-some-odd hours of my life back that I spent hoping FF X wasn't going to suck as much as it did.
8) Speaking of video games... All I really want for Christmas is for Square Enix to realize that most hard core RPG gamers care more about storyline than they do about graphics and overly-complex leveling systems. Pull your head out of your collective asses and realize that FF2 and FF3 were the highpoints of your gaming careers and make more games to that level of quality. If you make another game of the same caliber as FF (anything past 7), I'm going to swear off all Square games.
9) I want someone to make me a damn OGG player for my truck. I have most of a music collection in OGG format, and no one has the cajones to make a portable OGG player -- just MP3. Though I will settle for an mp3 player for the truck. ;-)
10) A new wardrobe. Nuff said.
11) To go along with the house that someone will buy me, I'd like a workshop with a ton of good tools in it. I need: a table saw, a scroll saw, belt sander (not one of those handheld doojobs either), circular saw, router (with good bits), sawzall, a good dremel with a lot of bits, and a blow torch for good measure. Oh yeah, and a place to put it all. I'll help you build said place with the new tools you get me. :-)
12) Since we're outfitting the new house, I wouldn't mind a lot of new gadgets for my kitchen. I need a deep fat frier, a new blender (the one I have has seen better days, mostly due to having to grind out a lot of margaritas and stawberry strippers), a grill (one that I can use to smoke things on as well), and more cookie cutters. You can never have too many cookie cutters...
That should just about do it. So if anyone wants to get me something on this list, feel free to. :-D
holy crap... a few highlights
"i want an xbox"
"lego mindstorms and robosapien"
hehe
you can come and play with mine.... my xbox, lego mindstorms, or robosapien that is
I didn't say I wished to play with someone else's toys. ;-) But thanks for the offer!
Am I supposed to buy you something off this list??
LoL, it's filed under creative writing hon. ;-) I don't expect you to get me anything silly goose.
Ooh! You're either back in Minnesota or will be soon, right? B. Dalton bookstore at Crossroad's mall is going out of business or being bought out or something...*everything* in the store is 30% off, and I wouldn't be surprised if they raised that after Christmas.
Yup, I got home Friday night (Lou came and picked me up from the airport with my dad). And thanks for the tip!
