So I've been back in Austin since Sunday evening, and damn, Texas is having just as goofy of a winter as Minnesota is having. It's in the mid to upper seventies lately! It's usually in the 40s or 50s at this time of year -- instead, it's feeling like summer is starting already. Yeesh!
The flight back into Austin kinda sucked. It was initially pushed back an hour (which I was aware of when I was in MN). Then it was pushed back again due to the flight crew not being there on time. Finally, after getting on the plane, we were delayed again because the flight was over-booked and we were over-weight. After all the hoopla, we strolled into Austin about 45 minutes later than expected, and to make matters worse, there was a luggage snafu. And the soonest a shuttle could get me back to my apt was an hour wait. :: sighs :: So I ended up taking a taxi home instead. Thirty bucks later, I get back to the apt, say hi to the cat, and realize I'm now home so late that I can't order any food for dinner. So I had to go grocery shopping at midnight so I wouldn't starve to death. Needless to say, it was a long day. ;-)
But now I am back in the saddle at work. Last night I sat down and started really using RB 6. My plan is to release version 2.0 of the Windows Functionality Suite when RB 6 goes out the door. But v2 requires some of the new compiler features of RB 6, so that's why I needed to use it. Well, 10 minutes and 8 bug reports later, I got a handful of classes done. w00t! And today, while at work, I've been fixing all the bugs I ran into last night while coding. :-P While RB 6 certainly isn't ready for prime time, it's finally getting to the point where you can get some work done in it (so long as you're patient).
I wanted to play MegaMan Collections last night, but alas, it appears as though my PS 2 controller is broken. I don't know what happened, it wasn't broken when I left Austin (I was playing the day I left town). But last night, the controller wouldn't do a damn thing. To make matters worse, the PS 1 controllers that I have won't work to play MegaMan (though they do work for every other game I have) because the damn game requires you to have a PS 2 controller. :: sighs :: stupid engineers placing horrible restrictions on the game! So tonight I'll end up getting a new PS 2 controller from Target (I need other stuff too, so I might as well just get it there).
Lis is back in town, and I'm gonna see her tonight. First time in about three weeks! Yeesh, it's been a while! We're doing our gift exchange tonight, so that should be fun. Hopefully she likes what I got her. :-)
Whelp, time for me to get back to fixing bugs with the new IDE. Leave some love.
I'm on my way back now. See you soon! ;)
