My Vacation is Over

So my vacation is winding up, and I head back to Austin today (I leave about 7:30pm, and get in Austin about 10:30pm). Here are some of the highlights from my vacation.

  • I made it to my first family Christmas in four years and got to see a large chunk of my dad's side of the family.
  • I did get to see some of my mom's side of the family as well -- I saw Paul, Cathy, Jake & Laura for about an hour when dropping Meggan off in the cities.
  • Speaking of Meggan, the last time I saw her was last Christmas. So it was nice to see her again, even though she got the bed and I got the floor. :-P
  • Geek nights with Lou! I had a few of them before I got a cold, so that was cool. We played Worms 3D and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
  • New Year's Eve party! I got together with Adam & Andrea for a small gathering at their new house. There were about a dozen people at the party throughout the night, so it was pretty cool. Their new house looks great!
  • Of course, we can't forget bowling night! Like all bowling nights, it was a blast. Around twenty people came for the party, and I even managed to bowl a game over 200!
  • I met some new friends while I was home: Jessica and Shelli. I met them thru Luis, and they're both very nice people. It's been fun getting to know them better.
  • Last, but not least, was all the time I got to spend with my family. I don't get to see them often enough, and it was great to hang around for the last two weeks.

As I posted yesterday, the vacation pictures are already up on the main site. Go take a gander!

I must admit that I am a little disappointed in the weather for this trip home. When I got to MN, I was really surpised at the lack of snow on the ground. Usually by December there is plenty of white stuff out. Instead, I came back to sub-zero temps (which aren't always a bad thing, mind you), but almost no snow. And to make matters more weird, it actually rained a few times while I was home -- complete with thunder and lightning! I've never seen lighning in December -- it's really hard to comprehend. I did get to see a few snow falls, but they were short-lived, and the snow barely stuck (especially because of the rain and warmer temps we got towards the end of the week). Too bad I didn't get weather quite like I wanted, but there'll be other years for that. :-)

I hope everyone had a great holiday. What are the highlights from your Christmas/New Year's?
