Worthless Programming Day

I spent almost my entire work day in meetings.

I got to work and had a 1.5 hour-long meeting with Matt, Dave and Geoff about the new initial launch dialogs and how they should look and work. You see, Matt did the original designs (which sucked), and he was in the process of revising them. But then he handed the duties off to Geoff, who's revised them (they suck a little less on the Mac, we'll see how they turn out on Windows). Now Geoff is trying to get final approval from Matt, Dave and I -- took an hour. Bleh. Fine, whatever.

I spent the next hour on the phone. Dad (house stuff), mortgage broker, and Joe. So fine, no coding done. Then I Jon and Dave wandered by the office asking questions about stuff. Answered them.

Wahoo! Twenty minutes of coding, then it's lunch time. I had to leave for lunch early today (about 1pm) because I was meeting Stacie so we could catch up. An hour later, done with lunch, back to the office I go. Twenty more minutes of coding, and then I have another meeting.

Geoff, Dave, Matt and I all pile into Geoff's office to discuss the network check. Another 1.5 hour long meeting ensues. After that meeting is done with, Dave wanders back to my office with me, and we talk about it some more (about a half-hour). Dave leaves, Matt calls me over. He and I talk about it for a half hour more.

Then I call Joe to talk to him about something he'd done. I'm barely off the phone with him when Geoff wanders in and talks to me about the network check even more. Matt wanders over for a bit as well.

It's 6pm now, and time to go home. And I've done maybe an hour's worth of "actual" work (you know.. work involving code?). So I go home, and decide -- I'll work on an OSS project.

So I start porting Frank Condello's DisplayOverlord plugin to Windows. I get about a half hour into it and realize that I need him to clarify a handful of things before I can really work on it. BLARG!

The coding gods are out to get me today.
