Man, Oh Man

Here's my list of things to get done today.

  • Call the moving company to find out exactly how much I owe them. Mention that their movers suck for stranding me in an apt with nothing in it but an overflowed toilet that they caused.

  • Go to the bank and get my accts transferred up here. Then I need to have a cashier's check or money order made out to pay the movers.

  • Shave. I look like grizzly freakin adams.

  • Run into the library to pick up some books, and head over to B&N to see if I can find a programming book I've been meaning to purchase.

  • Go pick out a Mother's day and b-day gift for mom. Prolly pick up a nice gift certificate for her and dad as well for meeting me half-way on my move back up.

  • Go shopping for a web cam

  • Call my mortgage broker to make sure we're still on for tomorrow

  • Go out to my lot and start staking out where the house belongs so the excavators can dig the hole in the right spot

  • New: Clean the truck

  • New: Setup gas service at the new house

  • New: Setup electric service at the new house

Let the "vacation" begin. :-P

I got to hang out with Lou for a while yesterday, playing Mario Kart Double Dash. That was a bunch of fun! Adam invited me out to his place for beer + pizza + SNL videos, but I declined cuz I needed a night to chill and rest. So I sat on the couch, watched a Hallmark movie with mom and dad while doing some programming. I have the testbed for Trucker laid down and am starting to write the packet filters. Pretty soon I'll be able to go out and monkey on the truck with it hopefully.

Pixel is adjusting to her new home nicely. She was running around doing her happy dance last night. :-)

The neighbor kids are adorable. It was May Day yesterday, and so they left a May basket at the doorstep. Rang the doorbell five or six times and ran like hell so I wouldn't catch them (not that I'd give them a kiss like tradition says; they're ages 12 or 13 and under. lol).

I may make rice crispie bars today too -- I'm having a craving for them. Mm... sweets!

Guess you did not get around to grilling out, eh? The snow must be over now? Down here in beautiful Western Kentucky it is going to be nice till next Tuesday, not any rain in site. But, alas.. If you don't like the weather here in these parts -- stick around -- it will change.

Very unique name for a cat. I had a cat named Gizmo. Yup! He looked just like the furry little Gizmo from Gremlins. Quite full of life until... The day came when he lost his man-hood! No he just lays and gets fatter.

Ooh.. Webcam - fun! Are you going to put a webcam up so we can all spy on you, or is it solely for video conferencing with Austin? Speaking of which, what do you use for teleconferencing?

Yeah, it snowed off and on all day yesterday. :-P And Pixel got her name because she loves computers. When I first found her, she sat on my desk chair and watched my screen saver for an hour. :-P

The webcam is for Elissa. :-) As for how do I deal with working remote -- via gaim (or iChat or AIM, depending upon your preferences) + the phone + email. I also will do business trips down to Austin for planning meetings, REAL World and things like that.

Would this be of any use for Trucker program? http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000500042097/

I've seen that before, and it wouldn't help that much since I already have the OBD-II hookup. It's just a matter of writing the software now, which is the fun part. :-) Thanks though!

Mmm...Rice Krispie Treats.
