Sorry for the slow weekend

I was recovering from my week this weekend.

Friday I managed to get a huge sunburn while waterproofing the footings on my house. I added new pictures though so everyone can see what footings look like (both waterproofed and not waterproofed). They might be laying block today, but because of the weather, it may not happen after all. I have to call Dean up to see what's going on for it so I can adjust my schedule accordingly.

So I spent Friday night in pain, hanging out with Lou -- playing more Double Dash. Damn that's a fun game. :-)

Saturday was a nice lazy day or reading in the morning, and stressing about the computers in the afternoon/evening. :-P The Mac came and I forgot to get a USB->PS/2 adapter for it, so I can hook it into the KVM. Also, the new RAM for it didn't come yet either. Then my Linux box started flaking out. Turns out that it was the video card -- it sounds like a jet engine taking off. So I stripped parts from the Linux box to make my Windows box better (moved over the good sound card, more RAM, the firewire card, etc) since this will be my primary machine at home now. But of course, that means I need to get some new stuff for the Linux box (such as a small stick of RAM and a video card at the very least).

I bought Battle for Middle Earth on Saturday. Damn is that a fun RTS. I'd highly recommend you get it if you like that kind of game. I've been playing the campaign quite a bit, but am also looking for people to play online with.

Sunday was Mother's Day, so I went out to lunch with mom and dad, and most of the rest of the day was spent playing BfME. In the evening though, I wandered over to the neighbor's house. They have a firepit that everyone sits around once a week (or so) and drank with people. Everyone around here is very nice -- I had a blast! Then I came home, played one more came of BfME, saved, and then the power went out. It was out for at least three hours -- that's the longest I can recall the power being out in a long time.

Today I start working from home. I have a lot of setup stuff I still need to get done (mostly unpacking stuff and then getting the boxes out of the house). But I can already tell that mom's desk is going to drive me batshit crazy. It has a pretty oak trim around the top of the desk, but that makes it impossible to rest your wrists anywhere without cutting off blood flow. I need to get one of those wrist rest thingers so that I can cover the lip up... Bleh, crazyness!

I got my webcam over the weekend, so now Lis is a happier camper.

Let's see... that's really about all that happened this weekend. Exciting eh?

TMI ... :) Webcams are good for two things... nudity and nudity... not involving Aaron...

Glad to hear things are going well...

and about the pictures... I see dirt and cement.. is there something I'm missing? (remember, I'm not a construction worker)

LoL, Jake, you have a dirty mind. :-P And no, you're not missing anything -- the footings are those chunks of cement you see. The blocks for the basement are mortared on top of the footings to form the foundation of the house.

Basement? That looks like ground-level to me.

There's about a 4-5 ft hole there (you can tell by the shadows if you look closer).
