I had a good time this weekend (and it's not even done yet!), and hopefully everyone else did as well.
We had poker night at Joel's last night. The fun started about 6pm, and I bowed out around 11pm. We played Texas Holdem, but not for any cash (this time) since a few of us were just learning the game. It was a blast though. It was Mama (Joel), Scomurr (Scott), Brain (Brian), Abe and I + lotsa beer (of which I didn't have any, just a little wine. lol) + pizza and good times. I think next month I'll be hosting.
Then I got up bright and early today (8am) to go volunteer. Six of us (dad, myself + four friends of the family) all went into the St Cloud Armory to package dried food for tsunami victims. It was only two hours, but with over 100 people there all doing this, we got a lot accomplished (28,000 meals made by our shift). Including ours, they've made over 218,000 meals to ship over there. It's boring work, but for two hours you can just deal with it. It was still a lot of fun because the people I was with are all a bunch of goofballs. I'd do it again (though would be more happy about it if it weren't so damn early!).
Not certain what's happening the rest of the day. More than likely I'll end up in front of the computer doing something geeky. But it won't be reading people's bitching about our new pricing model. Crimminy! I'm quite close to putting a filter on my email so I don't have to hear about it anymore. I know that I'm avoiding answering any list emails because of it. :: sighs ::
Man, I hear you there! I wish there was a way that Matt or someone could make sure that the reply to for that message is directed back at the sales department, or to /dev/null :)
I'm all about customer service, so don't get me wrong. But I'm just at a loss for why people are having such a hard time with this. It seems like a no-brainer.
Well, perhaps you know that internet discourse is based on a "ready, type, think" model. A lot of the complaining is nothing more than people working out an understanding of the new pricing scheme. Of course, some people begin from the assumption that RS is attempting to extract more revenue from its customers, and there is nothing to be done to change their minds except to let them see how it goes.
