So I got called out to the job site this afternoon to check the progress on the HVAC installation. I did so because I noticed this weekend that the furnace is in the wrong spot! It turns out that the HVAC installer has an old set of house plans, so he was sticking it in the middle of the room instead of the corner of the room. Yeesh.
I ended up being out there for about 2.5 hours making sure that he was clear where things are meant to go (the furnace and the air to air exchanger needed to move). He (his name is Fred) took things very well since it was just a simple mix-up and said that it shouldn't be too hard to rectify the situation.
Once I was done with HVAC, I noticed my electrician was in the house next door. So I wandered over and found Tony and did my electrical walk-through with him. That saved me a trip out to the job site at 7am tomorrow! We picked out where all the light fixtures, outlets, switches, etc are going to go. Should work out very nicely.
After being at the job site, I swung by Home Depot to see if I could find some lighting for the livingroom, and I did. Found some great three-pronged spotlights (little halogen bulbs) that I can stick in the livingroom. I picked up three of them so I could get all the major corners of the room well-lit.
On tomorrow's home agenda: calling the city to find out why I still don't have power at my house, getting ahold of my framer to find out why there's a wall missing in the basement and call my electrician to let him know about the lighting in the livingroom. Oh yeah, and I work tomorrow too. :-P
Btw, I have new house pictures posted on the main page. Enjoy!
Wow - your house is coming along fast! For some reason I still had it in my head that it wasn't even framed yet (don't ask why).
By the way, I'm curious as to what kind of pre-wiring you're doing for computers and TV around the house.
No, it's framed. I was shocked at how quickly it happened though. I think it took like a week to get the entire thing framed.
I'll be running my own wires for the networking since I know how to do it and I don't want to pay anyone else for that sort of work. ;-) But I plan on running CAT5 to every room in the house and put a small server station somewhere in the basement. I didn't build a server closet in this house because I figure the next owner wouldn't understand it. :-P
Building a house sounds like a lot of work!
Haha. In the pics, it looks like Louie is doing a good job at Supervising:)
lol. Love ya, Louie [TOTALLY in the brother/sister way]. Heehee.
WHat about TV - are you also running RG6 to all rooms, or just a few? Also, are you planning on having modulated channels so you can watch a DVD in all rooms, for example?
Heh, I rarely watch TV (no time, and I like reading more), so there's only going to be cable jacks in the living room and bedrooms. I figure if I need more I'll run them myself. And nope, nothing too fancy like that -- though I have thought about X.25 :-D
