Dropping the ball left and right!

As you can imagine, it's been a busy time for me lately. I'm trying to stay on top of posts, but alas. :-P

After the ass-kicking I gave Jess on Thur in pool, I spent my evening Friday doing work-type stuff. Someone emailed me asking how to support multiple desktops on Windows earlier this week. I've never actually played around with that part of the Win32 APIs, so it was a challenge I was interested in. So I spent most of my night Friday making a Desktop class for the Windows Functionality Suite. It lets you create a desktop and launch an application on another desktop. I think I'll turn it into a full features multiple desktop application for Windows though. That's a program I've been trying to find for years and have finally resolved myself to the fact that I'll never find anything that satisfies me. So that should be a fun "spare-time" project.

I got up Saturday morning and went fishing with dad out on Swan Lake (near Grey Eagle). We got out there about 10am and fished until about 2pm. We only kept about 6 or 7 of the sunnies we caught because most of the fish we were catching were to small. It was a gorgeous day out though! I got a sunburn on my arms and neck, but it's mostly gone today (so it wasn't a terrible burn). I also got a nice close-up picture of a loon with her baby. :-)

After I got home from fishing, I took a nap until about 6pm. I was exhausted from being in the sun all day. But I got up at 6 and went over to Home Depot to pick my cousin Maggie up from work. We went down to my cousin Kelly's house warming party in Bloomington (Maggie and Kelly are sisters). It was a blast! We didn't leave until about 11pm to head back into St Cloud. Needless to say, I stumbled into my house in Sartell at about 1am, but I picked up some Taco John's along the way, so I was happy. :-D

Today is Father's Day, so I'm spending the day with family. We're having a steak and chicken feast this afternoon. w00t! I'll probably spend part of my day working on the multiple desktop app too. :-P Perhaps dad and I will go out fishing later on this evening or something.

Hopefully everyone's having a good Father's Day weekend!

On a heavier note: I start sheetrocking this week. So if anyone lives in the area and would like to help sheetrock, let me know.

Ug, nevermind. One major (annoying!) drawback to the desktop functionality on Windows is that you cannot move any GUI element from desktop to desktop. Once it's on a desktop, it's stuck there.

There's probably some security reason for this, but it effectively kills my idea. The only other way to do multiple virtual desktops would be to hack it in by hiding and showing windows on the main desktop. Certainly possible, but not nearly as interesting of a project.
