Funny story time.

My family always takes a vacation at least once a summer, and we typically rent a cabin up in north MN near Black Duck. So one summer about a ten years back or so, we head up there, get into our cabin, and started a week-long vacation of fishing. The place we were staying at has about two dozen cabins strewn all over this little lake (called Bad Medicine lake), and they're almost always full during the summer.

Generally, we get up there right as the dragon-fly and mayfly hatches occur, so there's always a ton of bugs, and the fish are always in a frenzy.

So a few days into the vacation, this family pulls up to the cabin somewhat near ours. But they don't get out of the car! The plates on the car said Illinois, and the people in it were older (like 50s I'd guess). I thought it was kinda odd that they just sat in the car for like 10 minutes, but I figured they were just discussing something. No big whoop.

Well, they sat in the car for almost a half hour, and when they finally did get out of it, they hauled-ass to their cabin, got in and slammed the door shut. No one saw them the rest of the day.

Well, that night was a potluck dinner at the lodge and they were there. So, bursting with curiosity, I asked them -- "Why weren't you out on the lake today? It was gorgeous out." They got a sheepish look on their face, and didn't say much. Someone else popped in with, "are you guys feeling alright, we saw you run to your cabin from your car?" Finally, they responded:

"We heard the mosquitos in MN were big, but these things can kill you!"

Yeah... they thought the dragonflies that were buzzing around were really mosquitos....They were scared to get out of the car, or even the cabin.

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life.
