Phew, another 12 hours of sheetrocking done today. Dad and I went out to the house and got almost everything finished. We have to stub some pieces into the closets, and have one full wall left to do in the kitchen, that's *it*. Basically, we've got about another 2-3 sheets work of stuff to put up and the house is totally done. Yay! We'll get to that Monday sometime.
However, that doesn't mean I'm done sheetrocking -- next week I start on the garage. Thankfully, I just have to do the firewall (the two walls touching the house) and the ceiling. So it should go fast -- very few obstructions. The ceiling are more of those damned 4x12'. To make matters worse, they're 5/8" instead of 1/2" (to meet fire code), so they're heavier. I think I'm going to rent a lift for them, I'm sick of holding that crap over my head and trying to screw. However, the walls are going to be vertical sheets of 4x10's, so those will go really quickly. It'll still suck, but it'll be over soon. :-P
I leave tomorrow morning for the family get-together down in Cleveland (near Mankato, for those of you who know you MN geography). I just found out that we're spending the night in a hotel though, so I won't be back until about noon tomorrow. Yay, a night without working on the house! :-) I'm a sucker though, so I'll prolly bring the laptop and work on the WFSWiki.
I have no real plans for the 4th aside from finishing up stuff at the house. I was thinking of going to the Taste of Minnesota, but from what I've been hearing, it's started to suck. It used to be a really fun thing to go to, but everyone says it's become *really* commercial, and it's no longer at the capitol. So I probably won't bother going this year -- not worth the hassle if it's possible that it'll suck. So I'm replacing Taste Of MN with the MN State Fair on my list of things to do. :-P
Well, I had pizza for dinner -- now it's time for beer. Mmm... beer.... I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th! And for those of you not in the US, have fun at work on Monday. ;-)
Have a happy 4th! We need to get out next week. It's been TWO weeks. Dam holiday.
We've got Taste of Manitoba (just north of you, sort of, in Canada :P) and yeah, seems the same experience here. It was really good for a while and lately it's been downhill. I've heard a rumour that they are possibly going to stop doing Taste of Manitoba.
Nice to hear your house is coming along.
