Phew!
Sorry about the flurry of non-activity lately. ;-) I spent the weekend with my sister in LA, and she has limited connectivity (read: AOL) so I wasn't able to write any updates this weekend. But that's ok, I'll still fill you in on the boring life of me today. :-P
The convention ended on Friday, and Meggan's boyfriend Dave picked me up from the convention center. He and I headed over to the school where Meg teaches so that I could meet some of her friends from work. So we hung out at the school for about an hour or so before heading home for a relaxing evening. We ate burritos at Melody's (a "mexican" place nearby) which were alright, but certainly not as good as the Tex/Mex I was spoiled with in Texas. After that, we went home and watched some CSI on DVD. Wahoo!
My relaxing evening was interrupted with a ton of fun though -- her neighbors were having a party out on the patio. So we opened the door up, wandered out, and partied all night long. Seriously -- I was salsa dancing until about 2:30am (which is really 4:30 CST) and had an absolute blast. Everyone was so nice, and the food was amazing. Mmm, I ate so much!
Saturday, I slept in until about noon and basically spent an entire day doing nothing but watching TV. It was nice to have a chance to turn my brain off and not have to be socialable.
Sunday, being my last day in LA, we did a bit of chasing. Meg and I went to go watch Dave play in a baseball game, except the coach benched him over something retarded and the entire team played about as well as my highschool team did. Seriously -- the team has a TON of talent, however, none of them (aside from Dave) understand what the concept of teamwork is. They all try to be the star of their own show, and they end up sucking ass because of it. It was the sloppiest game of semi-pro ball I've ever seen. Yech.
After that, Meg and I went to Friday's to have some dinner and watch some football. The football was pretty good, but the dinner was less than stellar. Finally, we trucked it home where the real fun began. She and I hung out, played on the computer (played == fixed), watched Lord of the Rings and just generally had a nice evening.
I flew back into town yesterday, which was only about a 10 hr day spent in airports/flying/getting home. But I arrived safe, with all my luggage, and the cat was happy to see me -- so I've got no complaints.
So what does one do on the day after getting back from a week-long geekfest? One catches up with email. To give you an idea of what I go thru... I was answering emails most of the week, so I didn't have to deal with a flood when I got back. However, because I had no connectivity this weekend, I wasn't able to check mail until this morning. 1500 email messages arrived from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. Yee haw! So I'll be wading thru email, fixing a few issues that people alerted me of over the weekend (such as a StaticText issue which I am just now hearing about....) and that sort of thing. Yaw hee!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
I'm not feeling the love for your return Aaron, but damn it all, I am glad you are back!
LoL, thanks Bill. :-)
