Do you ever find yourself wondering, "whatever happened to so-and-so?" I've been doing that lately -- just with random people who I used to know, and always wondered, whatever happened to them? What are they doing now?
So here's my list of whatever's, and if you happen to know the answer to one, let me know!
Whatever happened to Rosalee Christensen? Is she off somewhere, continuing to be the super-genius she always was? Last I hear, she was in college in IL.
Whatever happened to Marie Lahr? I ran into her once about 5 years back and she was working at the Radison in St Cloud. We BSed for about three hours over at my place, and then she wandered back out of my life again.
Speaking of Marie, whatever happened to Carrie Knettle? I've heard so many different stories about where she went and what she's up to that all sound like total BS. Like she went into the Navy and had a kid and now does daycare or something crazy like that. To be honest, after I graduated HS, I totally lost track of her.
Whatever happened to Tanya Fuches? There's another one who just... poof! Up and disappeared (as far as I know).
Whatever happened to Troy Carlson? Last I hear, he became a retiever for some bail bonds outfit. God, that's a scary thought -- give that kid a gun. Heh.
Whatever happened to Paul Westerveldt? Cripes, with the amount that kid moved with his family, I wouldn't be surprised to learn he's living in Guam by now. I know he moved to CT, then down to TX, but lost him after that. And that was years ago!
Whatever happened to Laura Wentland? She was my neighbor when I lived at the old house (on 2nd Ave), and after we graduated, I never saw her again. And since I'm on the topic, what became of her older brother, Brian?
Whatever happened to Meghan O'hotto? I remember babysitting her and her little sister ages ago, and the last time I ran into her she was all grown up (and rather attractive, which was more than slightly distrubing) and out grocery shopping at Coborn's in Sartell.
Whatever happened to Angie Krats? Last I heard, she had given up on missionary work, but I never heard the reason (and don't even know if it's true). Man, I miss that girl! We used to hang out at her mom's house after they moved into my old neighborhood and we'd play board games or make silly art projects.
Whatever happened to Shannon Draper? I haven't seen her since we graduated...
Whatever happened to Sherri Torberg? Cripes, I haven't thought of that girl in ages, and I think the last I heard of her was that she was working at some gas station in St Cloud, but that would have been almost 8 or 9 years ago now.
Whatever happened to Mr T? He was rockin awesome back in the day.
I wonder if anyone ever sits around and wonders "whatever happened to Aaron Ballman? Did he end up becoming a member of the Swedish Bikini Mafi or something crazy like that?" LoL
Mr T still makes occasional guest appearances on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition".
I want to track down a few people also, namely: Julius Agh, best buddy a pre-teen could have, he moved away and now is in his forties. What are you doing bud? Lisa Galione, nee, Lisa Moment, married a guy 25 years older than herself, after breaking my heart, I hope you are still happy! Allison Willis, had a crazy, messed up family, but still my first real love, if you made it this long without being instituinalized, I applaud you, and would like to say hi! Linda Furst, I broke your heart, and probably your marriage and for that I am deeply sorry for, I hope you are doing well also. Kevin Moran, running Manhattan as teenagers was not only fun, but educational, last I saw you were laying tiles, but woudl love to hear from you also.
I want to come see it in person. It looks awesome!
A suggestion for a future blog entry: how did you optimize the latest debugger stubs (advertised as much faster)? What mistakes did you make, and how did you fix them? One of my projects does something very similar (sending large files over the network) and I'd like to know how to optimize it.
Thanks for the suggestion Adam. Jon was the one who got the chance to look into the remote debugger stub this time around, but I can easily tell you what mistake I made for file transfer speed: sending too small of chunks of data, lack of proper polling.
I was sending 2k chunks instead of > 64k chunks, and I wasn't polling in my loop properly. Fixing these two issues caused the major speed-up. Simple flaws that I never had the time to go back and look at -- I wrote the code once and figured "eh, I'll optimize it later" but Jon got to "later" before I could. :-P
Marie Lahr works at Coborns in Sartell (As well as Matt). She works in the old one and he works at the new one most times. She was going to move to Chicago, but that fell through. She was engaged at one time as well. I have no idea what happened with that.
Sherry Torborg may still work at Menards, but I doubt it as that was a few years back. I don't talk to her but she used to work with my aunt so I lost track.
Meghan O'hotto is now known as Meghan Jessen. She married a great man from the Sartell area by the name of Chris Jessen. She recently bought a home and has two dogs.
