I just checked my web stats for last month to see how I was doing..

Over 3 GB of bandwidth used by over 12,000 visits. Shoooooey! That's a lot of people.

Since I broke my goal of 10,000 visits in a month, my new goal is 20,000. We'll see how long I can keep reaching my goals. ;-)

Uh, Maybe it is time for some google ads, inobtrusive and somewhat profitable.

Got to say, I am happy to see another Pagan around here.

@Aaron: Man, sure hope your host give you unlimited transfer :P

I would ditto the ad idea... To me (and likely many others) this isn't a personal blog as much as it's a resource for understanding and programming in RB (as well as other tech trivia). Your articles are written in an easy to read concise manner (well the declare one had me a bit baffled) that is hard to find in this profession. Not to go off-topic but I have several of the 2 inch bound books on various tech topics and they are chock full of esoteric nonsense (I just wanted to find the 'any' key for cryin' out loud - and hey where's my Tab - this hacking is making me thirsty).

Keep up the good work - and if you go with the ad idea and some wank complains then I got your six! We'll just flame his welfare butt!

Cheers,

~joe

@Scott -- That's one thing I made sure of with my host a long time ago. I do get unlimited bandwidth, up to a point (which is reasonable).

@Joe -- LoL, I had to read that last paragraph a few times before I fully understood it. I was like "six? Wasn't she the hot chick from Blossom?" :-P

AdSense is an interesting idea. I may give it a shot just to see how it does. Personally, I don't find the ads obtrusive enough to complain about. And it would help offset the cost of maintaining the websites. :-P

Six? Isn't that the Human Cyclon that's in that doctor's head in the new Battlestar Galatica? :P

You need to brush up on your old WWII movies ;-)

Just out of curiousity, how well does Google pay?

To be honest, I'm not entirely certain. I checked my stats and it claims I've made 8$ (roughly) so far, but the figures change depending on how many impressions you get vs clicks. I noticed that at one point I checked when I had a small number of impressions and a large number of clicks on a day and it said that for every thousand clicks I'd get like 125$ or something like that. But checking back later in the day when I had a lot of impressions and a few clicks it was more like 20$.

Think gzip would allow you to increase your hits while lowering your bandwidth?
