La la la la life!

Hoooo, I do believe it's time for an update. Let's see. Friday was rather much a blur. I worked all day on random stuff (mostly just bug fixes and other boring topics), and when work was over with, I headed out to mom and dad's. My uncle Paul and cousin Josh came up because Josh is checking out local colleges. They were up in Morris on Friday afternoon, and were staying at a hotel in Sartell for the night. But they came over to my parents place to hang out and BS. It was a fun night just chilling over there. Unfortunately, I missed by buddy Joe's Halloween party, which kinda sucks because it would have been fun to go hang out with him. Oh well, some other time!

We were supposed to get together on Saturday at the St John's football game, but I had stuff I needed to take care of (such as buying some actual jeans, since I haven't needed to wear any for the last 3 years). So I went to Kohl's and got jeans, a throw blanket and some rugs for the foyer. Ta da! I had just gotten home and everything set up when Paul, Josh, mom and dad got to my house. It was the first time Paul or Josh had ever been out to the house (but they've been following the progress via my pictures online). It was a bunch of fun having them out! I really love Paul and his family, so any chance to hang out with them is awesome.

They took off in the late afternoon, and I started to get ready for poker night. I had a great time, even though Joel ditched us for hockey and Scott was nowhere to be seen. It ended up being Abe, his sister Shandra, Krista and I. Shandra was pretty much the last sibling to meet in his family, so it was cool hanging out with her. We played 7-card draw, and I managed to win it all. Which amounted to extactly no real money since we didn't play for cash (due to the lack of most people bothering to show up). Oh well, go figure!

Sunday was a nice day outside. It was about 45 degrees and sunny out -- good fall weather. I went over to mom and dad's for lunch and to watch the Vikings beat the Packers (our rivals) in the last 2 seconds of the game. Wahoo! We still suck, mind you, but the Packers suck more (and so I am happy). Then dad and I met up with Adam and Andrea out at Adam's parents place so that I could get some more trees. I was trying for 3 birch clumps and 1 sugar maple. However, birch seems to be the mystery tree up here -- I can see it everywhere I go, except at places where I'm allowed to dig trees. :-P So instead, I came home with four decent sized maples. We went out to Adam's neighbor's place (Kevin and Andrea) for them, which was about 5 miles down the road (not direct neighbor's, mind you). It was really nice of them to let me come grab some trees seeing as how I had never met them before. Yay for friends! I got home, planted the trees, then went back out to the parental's place so I could watch the Astros pitching staff implode on itself. I won't say any more about that game since I'd probably be sent to therapy by well-wishing friends for speaking my mind.

I really wish Elissa was here right now to see how colorful our fall is. Man, driving over to Becker yesterday was absolutely gorgeous. The very colorful part of the season is over already since most of the maples and birch have lost their leaves. However, the red oak are this very dark red color, and it looks so pretty up against the brown leaves still on the trees and the gold in the fields. It's wonderful out -- and I'm so glad to be back home to see it. I just wish Lis could see it too. Unfortunately, I am beginning to wonder if she ever will. :: sighs :: She's looking into grad schools all over the country -- and being a trooper about it. She knows that there are some places she would have to drag me kicking and screaming to (like anywhere that's hot). So she's been picking some awesome parts of the country which I could live in (like Colorado, Oregon, Montana, etc). However, I get the feeling she's got no interest in living in MN. She says she does, but I can just tell. She bitches about it like only the anti-christ could live here. And I dunno what to do about it.... very frustrating, upsetting and sad. I don't mind leaving for a few years to go be with her during grad school (heck, if the school had a decent program, I'd go back for my Master's or PhD). Though I must admit, the thought of selling my house and moving away from here just wrenches my gut. But I'm worried I'd never come back. Or worse yet, I'd come back, and then be forced to leave again. :: sighs ::

Anyways, back on to happier topics. The plan for this week is work, work, work. I haven't really been planning my evenings out because I've been chasing way too much and really need some nights off. However, I think Cait's having a party at her new house on Friday which I am hoping to go to (once I get directions on how to get there). But it's a costume party (where costumes are required, from what I've been told) and I don't know what to go as. Suggestions?

:( I'm sorry she doesn't want to live here. It's really not THAT bad.

Did you get my IM about the Haunted House in St. Augusta? Shelli and I want to go on Wednesday, but I'm not sure if it's open during the week or only on the weekends.

She hasn't come right out and said she doesn't want to live here, so there's still hope. :-) It's just a feeling I get from her.

I'll look into when the haunted house is open next time I drive by there and let you know.

Why don't you dress up as a overly paranoid boyfriend! Geez Aaron, I don't Hate MN. I've enjoyed it every time I've been there, and I probably wouldnt think about living there if it wasnt for you, but damnit I just want to be with you wherever you live, MN, the artic, whatever. Get it into your head that I love you and I'll live where you're happy.

Thanks! I'll be awaiting your response!

@Elissa -- hard to argue with that. ;-) But... how does an overly paranoid boyfriend dress? Is that anything like a stressed-out psycho-studying girlfriend? ;-P

Uh, I think it means like a nerd, but then again, we all love nerds.

Heh, when I was at the airport flying back home from Austin, there was a very attractive young woman (I'd guess mid-twenties) who was wearing a form-fitting "I love geeks" shirt. Needless to say, everyone with a laptop tried sitting close to her in the terminal. LoL

Wow my life sucks.

Did you find out about the Haunted House yet? :)

Napoleon Dynamite would be cool Halloween costume, and fairly easy.

I nearly dressed up like him for a movie-themed party recently, but my wife nixed the idea.

She made up for it, however, by bringing me a delicious bass.
