Whirlwind of Wonders

Well, not really. I'm so totally out of it today. :-P

Lis and I had a wonderful last lunch together yesterday at the Olive Garden on Lamar, soups, nummy breadsticks and salads. But then it was time for me to leave TX again, and that sucked. But Lis and I both held up like troopers on the ride over to the airport. Man, there was a ton of traffic on the way over! So we ended up skipping the jam and looping back around the backside of the airport. It sure is handy to be familiar with the city! She dropped me off and we said our goodbyes at around 4:30 and I headed off to the land of airplanes.

The flight from Austin into Dallas was uneventful. I read the Harry Potter book that Lis was kind enough to loan me. It's freaking awesome (it's the newest one)! But I got into Dallas and realized I had roughly 5 minutes to get from a gate in the C's to a gate in the A's to meet my connector. As anyone who's ever flown thru that shithole knows, you don't get anywhere in 5 minutes. So I took a nice little jog through the airport only to find that they were delaying the boarding of my flight because someone in 1st class dropped a glass object and god forbid should people be forced to walk over it. 45 minutes later, we were on the plane and heading towards home.

I continued to read my awesome book. Yay!

I got into MSP about 10:15pm (only 30 minutes late) and called my uncle Paul, who was supposed to be picking me up from the airport. But he's infintely more awesome than that. He brought my truck (with more gas in it!) and my cousin Josh followed him in the car. So Paul dropped my truck off for me at the airport and I was able to head straight home instead of detouring over to his place. My family ROCKS! :-)

I got back into St Augusta last night about 11:45 or so, made dinner and talked to Lis for a bit. Crash, boom, bang, I was asleep about 1am.

Needless to say, my brain is pretty much mush today, as it is after anytime I spend all day in an airport. But I'm still able to function enough to answer questions on the forums, mailing lists, etc and do some investigation into WinQual. More on the last topic later.

I must say, it's nice to be back in my own bed, with my cat, in my house and in a place where it's not still 90 every day. But damn, I miss Lis (and Miikka!) and good Mexican food.

I still haven't forgotten about the debugging post I promised people. I just haven't gotten around to writing it either. LoL, hopefully I'll get the chance to do that today before my brain leaks out my feet (any more than it already has).

FYI, your RSS feed seems to have stopped working. Firefox has gotten "Live Bookmark has failed to load" for all of this week, and friday of last.

Wow! You're a Harry Potter fan?! Rock on!

Yay for getting back safe and sound! We'll have to figure out a group night in St. Augusta.

Harry Potter would truley kick your ass for using the word 'nummy', in fact, Ron's sister, Ginny would probably do it for him . And after she got done laying a complete beat-down on you, she would roll you over, rifle your pockets, find your man card and tear it up . In fact I would not be suprised if she forced you to eat it afterwards.

Honestly, with all that, you should consider yourself as getting off light.

@Seth -- yup, I've read all the books and really liked them.

@Bill -- doubt either would notice a muggle like me. ;-)

Glad to hear you had a good trip to Texas Aaron. I so totally understand what you mean about the Mexican food here... whenever I travel out of state and eat at a so-called Mexican restaurant... I'm Sooooooooo disappointed!

I've been here 14 years and too am quite spoiled. :)

BTW, Airports are the worst aren't they?

Aaron, Harry Potter has got to know you, as to perform all that neat magic he has got to be using REALbasic.

(The big sucking sound was my nose sliding firmly in position...).
