Wow, this weekend sped by awfully fast!
On Saturday, I got up relatively early (like 9am!) and went over to my parent's house to help out with yardwork. Dad and I raked the lawn and brought two trailer loads full of leaves to the compost site. I also trimmed down some of mom's bushes so they'll grow back thicker next year. It rained off and on the entire time we were doing yard work, but thankfully, we finished everything up before the downpour started.
Dad and I took the Scamp back to Lynn's place after we were done with the yardwork. Boy did it rain hard all the way over there! There was just enough of a break in the rain that we were able to unload the Scamp and get back on the road. Wahoo! On the way back into town, we saw mom on the road. She was in front of us at the stop light in Sartell -- so we honked and waved. She promptly ran the red light. LOL! It turns out that she had been sitting at the light for a while and it wasn't turning green, so when people started honking behind her, she just assumed they had been waiting as long as she had and so she blew thru the light (it's not like there's any reason for a stoplight in Sartell, there's no traffic to worry about). Heh, we're still giving her hell for it. ;-)
Then on Saturday night, it was poker night! Abe, Adam, Joel, Brooks and I played Texas Holdem from about 8 until 1:30am. Wahoo! I ended up taking third, which is better than I normally do. I was the chip leader for most of the night because my opening hand was a pair of pocket aces. That was the last decent hand I saw all night. Heh.
I got up this morning at the ripe hour of 9 again, mom called. I had to do a bit of work in the yard (roll up the hoses) because it's going to freeze tonight. And when I got outside, I noticed that one of my trees uprooted! Too much rain and way too much wind -- the little baby just couldn't handle it. So I got that all planted back in, and staked down. Hopefully it lasts!
I drove with mom and dad down to see my Uncle Paul -- we met at Appleby's just outside the Cities. Paul brought my furniture with him and we had a wonderful chat. I made it back home around 4pm today, fixed the tree one more time and hauled stuff into the house.
Tonight's joy is doing a bit of cleaning. The bathtub needs a scrubdown, and I have to clean the kitchen. Man oh man, mom came in and saw how much we drank at poker last night. Heh, she was a bit surprised just how much liquid bread the five of us managed to consume.
Am I the only one who's slightly disturbed by the fact that the job doctors do is called "practice?" I'm sorry -- I don't want to be a practice patient...
Uh Aaron, you have lived in the house for what, a month? No self respecting bachelor cleans their tub more than once a year. You are hovering verrrrrry close to having to turn in your man card. Just a heads up, ok?
Don't listen to him Aaron! I cant date a boy with a dirty bathroom!
Sorry Bill, I'm with Lis -- a nasty bathroom is no bueno. When the tub starts turning pink (yay iron in the water!), it's time to scrub.
Say it ain't so Aaron, say it ain't so!
Next thing you know, you will be posting about picking out drapes and throw-rugs....
Oh, wait....
Hah, would it surprise you to learn that I worked my way thru college at Home Depot doing one of two jobs?
Plumbing. And decorating.
