Ok, now I'm annoyed

Back in the day, I never ran out of games I dreamed of owning. Lately... I can't think of a single one I want.

I have a PS 2, and I need help figuring out what game(s) to get for it. Here's my current collection:

Games I liked:

  • FFX

  • Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy

  • Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

  • Disgaea - Hour of Darkness

Games I'm on the fence about:

  • Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

  • Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003

  • NHL 2004

  • Kingdom Hearts

Games I didn't like:

  • Midway Arcade Treasures

  • MegaMan Anniversary Collection

  • Turok: Evolution

Traditionally, I have really enjoyed engaging RPGs (like FF2, FF3, Chrono Trigger, etc) as well as side scrolling adventure games (Castlevania: Symphony of Night, Super Mario Brothers, etc). I usually hate fighting games, and have yet to find a sports game I really enjoy (aside from Carmageddon).

So what suggestions do you have for the PS2? I'm really hoping to find a roll playing game that I enjoy as well as a nice side-scrolling adventure. I really liked Castlevania: Symphony of Night for the PS1, and I wished there were something like it on the PS2...

So come on guys, help a brother out -- what are some good suggested titles? Why did you like the game? Why do you think I'd like the game?

I like the "Roll" playing game pun ;)

Lol, I know I know...

Ok Ok, so I have a PS 2 and could not help but give a suggestion. So from your list of games I dont know if you will like it or not but anything from Rockstar games is good and THE WARRIORS just came out, it kicks ass. Not to mention that the GTA series are the Best GAMES EVER!!!

Burnout 3 (I think 3's the newest) is fun on a PS2 =).

Problem #1 - You own a PS2
Problem #2 - If you want a platformer, get a variant of the Nintendo... they ALL have awesome platformers (side-scrollers)...

Get a nintendo DS.. buy Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrows ... simply amazing game, and with a national free wifi service in a few weeks rolling out.. along side of Mario Kart DS... what more could you want?

Mmmmmm... Carmageddon....

@The other Aaron -- yay! You finally commented! ;-) I'll have to check out the warriors, and I really liked the old school GTA (I still play it on my PC).

@SirG3 -- What's that game about? Isn't it a racing game?

@Jake -- I've thought about getting a DS just for that game, however, I have absolutely no interested in hand-helds. I grew out of that phase of my life decades ago with the GameBoy. Now a GameCube however....

Grand Theft Auto all the way!!
Also, if possible, the old school version with the sexy hidden minigame.
Hott.

Well... I just purchased a PS2 (finally) myself recently. Right now the rentals I'm playing are God of War and Lego Star Wars. I really find both of them fun. A friend rented Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and it looked incredible and he really enjoyed it (I'd have rented it too, but I've got my other rents to finish first :P). For GoW and C:CoD, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy them.

For the GameCube my roomie just picked up Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. That's good for a laugh :P. Another fun adventure style one is Giest.

As for disappointment in the gaming arena, I concur. The only game that has been worth buying for me lately on the PC is World of Warcraft and Warcraft III. Seems like development for the GameCube is starting to really slow down now (which is why I bought the PS2).

There's a crash mode where all you do is try to make the biggest mess possible, and there's a mode you have to try to push other cars off the road. I think there's racing in it too, but I don't own the game -- just play it at a friend's.

Katamari Damacy. A friend of mine bought a PS2 after I showed him KD.

A big second on the GTA series. You can get GTA III and Vice City for like 6 bucks each now.

Ok, so I was checking out the website on Katamari Damacy, and I'm confused. You're a big ball that rolls around and collects stuff? Sounds like simple fun!

But what IS the premise of the game?

The entire point of Katamari is to roll a ball around and collect stuff. The plot is that the king of the universe got mad and made all the stars disappear, so you have to roll up random crap on earth for material to put the stars back in the sky. I know, it sounds pretty lame, but it is more addicting than it should be. I recommend trying it.

That seals it -- I'm gonna rent that game and give it a shot.

So Becky and her brother Dan came over tonight and brought Katamari with them -- holy shit.

Needless to say, I've bid on my copy on eBay already. Hopefully I can get it shipped to me before next Wed. ;-)
