Reformat Day

| | Comments (10)

I reformatted the laptop today. Took Windows 2003 Server off the machine and installed XP Pro SP 2. I figured a year was long enough for the testing machine. Plus, I was starting to have strange issues with the system locking up (probably due to all the strange apps I install for testing purposes).

Sorry for such as short ramble, but I'm just now getting things back up and running.

I would have thought that Vista would have gone on there.

You back home yet?

Or a (hacked) version of Mac OS X for Intel, so Aaron can work hard on getting us native Universal Binary support ;)

Aaron is, without a doubt, one of the annoited ones, he probably has a full, legit copy of the new Mac OS. Oh, the burden of being a Code God.

Even if he did have a legit copy, he'd need an Intel Mac ($999 from ADC) to do it. The hacked version allows it to run on any Intel PC.

Aaron, I expect you have access to an Intel Mac at work? I take it Mars will be using it mostly to get the compiler working for Intel?

@Bill -- I thought about installing Vista, but I decided against it because I wasn't certain how good the laptop support was yet. When beta 2 comes out, I'll probably install that one.

@Adam -- no thanks, I'd rather not install OS X on any more machines than I have to. ;-)

@Bill -- I don't own a copy of the new Intel OS X, but I've seen it running.

@Charlie -- Yes, we've got access at work in various capacities.

It's posts like these that make me wish I had a blog. :^)

I didn't have to reformat last week, but my PC of about 18 months gave up the ghost on me. No POST... CPU fan would spin up for about a second. I swapped out the power supply... still no go. Tried to jump start the mobo in case the problem was with the power switch. NOPE. Had to go out an buy a new machine. I wanted to build my next one, too. No time for that... work work work.
