What I've been up to

I haven't died (so you can stop rejoicing now) -- instead, I've been spending time with my lovely Lissy and enjoying the nice Minnesota weather we've been having.

The day after x-mas, Lis and I hung out most of the day and just sorta bummed around the place. But then on Tuesday, life started getting interesting. Lis came down with a nasty cold, so she's been spending most of her days in a haze (lucky girl). But we went to watch the Chronicles of Narnia anyways. It's a great movie -- I'd highly recommend you go see it (if you haven't already). Then we went to eat at Guadalajara's -- which isn't too shabby. It's the closest to real mexican food I've seen in town. :-)

On Wed, we decided to brave another trip into town to go see the new Harry Potter movie, which was also very good. It's another one I'd recommend you go see (if you're into that sort of movie). Aside from movie viewing though, we didn't do too much.

Thursday was a rather boring day most of the day because we just sorta sat inside. However, we had a blast -- we played Jeopardy on the PS1, and then we went into Target and picked up backgammon and cribbage. We spent most of the evening playing those two games while eating homemade salsa. It was awesome!

But I think the highlight (at least for Lis) of the vacation has been the snow we're getting tonight. We're supposed to get 6-8 inches before it's done tonight, and another 2-4 tomorrow. So it's quite awesome! We went walking in it (twice!), and Lis made her first-ever snow angel. She also helped me shovel my driveway (another first for her). So it's been a very nice night.

I've been working on a new project (at Lis' urging, and to her consternation) -- I call it ElissaSweeper. You see, Lis' favorite game on the computer is Minesweeper. However, we both figure that there are ways to improve on this game. So I've been making a new version of it (using RB, of course) that will have some extra features. For instance, you may randomly find that you have a "premontion" power-up after playing for a while. If you have this power-up and you accidentally click on a bomb (instead of flagging it), then it will automatically be flagged for you instead (since you were magically able to see into the future and realize that you were about to be blown up). So I'm adding little quirks like this to the game. It should be a blast! Once I have the game finished (which should be soon -- I just need to add sound effects, a high score list and other little touches), I'll be sure to put it online.

In any case, it's getting late (around 2am), so I'm off! Hope everyone's well!

Hi. I saw in your archives that you used to play the KVSC trivia game, but you no longer have a team.

I'm the captain of Worried About The Beaver, and we're always looking for folks to join us. We have a lot of sattelite players that play with us over the web.

My wife and I also welcome people to our home for folks that want to play in St. Cloud.

If you'd like to get back in the game, let me know. And by the way -- my wife loves Guadalahara's. Me, I'm a Bravo's guy.

I'm glad you and Lis are having so much fun:) And the snow must be exciting for her!

We're looking to have another group night next month...let me know when would work best for you. Shelli has class til late on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hopefully we can work around that and maybe make it on a Saturday night. I've got the 14th off.

Let me know. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
