Hoo, this should be a fun topic! So here's the question. What's the "best" game that comes pre-installed on a machine? And by best, I mean, what game do you find you play the most of out of these choices?
Choices:
Solitaire
Free Cell
Hearts
Pinball
Minesweeper
Internet Spades
Internet Backgammon
Internet Hearts
Internet Checkers
Internet Reversi
I was going to include the Mac, but after discussing with Mars and Jon, it sounds like your choices are Chess (OS X) and the Apple logo sliding puzzle (Classic).
And to make matters more interesting -- why did you pick what you picked?
Hearts, because I like to shoot the moon. ;)
Minesweeper.
Pinball, duh.
Because it's PINBALL. Duh.
Hey, you forgot about Jigsaw Puzzle in Classic! It had three modes for piece sizes, and you could even copy and paste any image in to make a new puzzle.
Minesweeper. I can spend all day playing. I wish the Mac came with it!
Freecell, no question about it. Because there's a solution to each one, so failure is not an option ;-) And also because it's on one of my Palms and I play it all the time (I stopped playing solitaire because I scratched two screens tapping always at the same place to draw the cards ;-) )
@Mike -- aren't we talking about the same thing? The Apple logo puzzle is a jigsaw. Or did I miss one?
@Florent -- I agree, my heart is with FreeCell because you can win every game. But I've been loving on Pinball recently.
@James -- what you're high score?
Windows! It fun trying not to make it "tilt". :)
Windows! It's fun trying not to make it "tilt". :)
Freecell. Because it is addicting.
@Aaron: I thought you were referring to the OLD old puzzle desk accessory, which was the move-the-squares-around-to-unscramble-a-picture type. Also, I recall that the Jigsaw Puzzle defaulted to the world map - perhaps this was changed from the Apple logo at some point though. :-)
Happy Holidays, by the way!
I don't remember the last time I played a game on my PC, but my favourites were Pinball and FreeCell.
Happy Holidays to everyone.
He Aaron, you forgot Sisen Sho from William, that one i am addicted to, playing it every day.
I that doesn't count, my second choice is BlackJack, just because it is simple and you have time to think over other things.
My 3. choice is Pinnball, especially when i am in a violent mood ;-)
Civilization II or III.
What? It doesn't come standard on every computer and every platform? It should. I have given up years of my life to 'One more turn'.
Minesweeper or solitaire. Because they're a very fast break and require little concentration (so that whatever problem I'm breaking from can percolate).
@Bill: re Civilization: LOL!
BTW, I like your RSS feed:
Which is the best torture? Improving the WFS. Who here is a beta tester?
Pinball! Why? Because it's pinball! Pinball totally kicks those other games' a$$es!
Mike was right, and the Mac had both at one time - both were installed on same machines when I was in High school. (I think my first Macintosh computer also had both - could be wrong about it, though.)
As for a PC game, Minesweeper, with Solitaire a very darn close second. (Ah, those vacations to Georgia when I was younger....)
MINESWEEPER!! But you could have already guessed that since I play it everyday when I talk to you. My best score for expert is 160. Pretty good huh? But rachel's is down to 141...so I have to keep playing until I beat it. I only like this game because I can try to beat rachel's score and become a world champion!!!
Chess is still better than those :)
