When I wasn't working on the latest version of RB, I was building the nook in my kitchen with dad and planning the layout of the basement. Phew! It's been a very short weekend, let me say.
We've got the nook designed and are starting to make the cuts on the 3/4" oak MDF we're building the shelves out of. Once we're done, we'll have 5 shelves spaced at various levels. The nook isn't going to be an entire bookcase like I was originally thinking because I don't like the location. It's going to be functional and decorative shelving for the kitchen. So I'll have a place to put all the stuff which just normally clutters my countertops (which drives me up the wall). I'm thinking that the rest of the nook should go fairly quickly; though I do need to pick up another can of varnish, and perhaps a can of stain as well.
Dad and I planned the basement out, and I think it's going to look awesome. We're going to start finishing the basement off once the nook is done (the nook is the last thing for the upstairs in terms of construction). It'll be quite the chore, but it will be well worth it once it's done. :-)
My cousin Maggie and aunt Cease came by today and hung out for a few hours. It was nice seeing them again. We had fun talking about everything from farming to wisdom teeth being pulled.
I did more work on my super secret, totally awesome side project this weekend as well. I'm really excited for the release date, which is coming up really soon!
My neighbors got a brand new little 10-week old puppy (miniature schnauzer) who I think will end up being named "Peanut." She's SO damned cute! Makes me want a little puppy... that is, until I see how much work she is and how little time I'd have to be a good dad for her. :-P
Lis isn't feeling too hot today, so I hope she starts feeling better.
Oh well, not too much more to report on tonight. My brain is pretty well frazzled from tracking down all sorts of bugs over the last few days. I can't wait until the new release is out and I can breathe a little easier.
Oh, "not too much more to report on".
Except the news that REALbasic will be supporting Cocoa!! Now you should claim all the credit, and the Mac crowd will surely love you. ;)
Seriously cool...
About this "uper secret, totally awesome side project"... do you have a time-frame for it to be announced?
Well, the original date was Jan 15th, but it may be bumped up earlier -- not certain. ;-)
Hmm... Super secret side project, eh? Looking forward to it.
I am looking forward to it also, I understand it is going to be Amazing!
@Bill - However amazing the super-secret mystery side project that you don't know anything about may be, it will be as nothing beside the cocoa announcement.
You do realise, don't you, that half the user-base has read the announcement as saying that cocoa will be supported tomorr^W whenever rb2006r1 is released. Perhaps they're right ;)
I can assure you -- they're wrong. 2006r1 does not support Cocoa. And don't be too quick to judge the super secret mystery side project as not a major announcement.
I'll put it to you this way -- I'm part of the project, and I've found myself wishing this project was around 4-5 years ago! And Bill knows about the super secret side project, so he's pretty accurate when calling it "amazing."
Must be, if it's Amazing with a capital A! Hmm.... hardware or software related?
