Ya know what amazes me? The amount of time some people have on their hands. I heard that someone defaced the REALbasic entry over at Wikipedia, so I went to check it out -- and what do I find? More BS from GS. In case you don't know who "GS" is -- he's a perfect example of someone with a lot of time on their hands. We've banned him from the forums three times now and kicked him off the mailing list at least once that I can recall. I know he's also been banned at least once from realgurus. And I've had to ban his IP a few times here on my blog. He seems to continually come back (in creative ways) to spout off some extremely lengthy, paranoid diatribes about how he feels REAL Software is ruining his life. Guess who he hates more than anyone in the world? Me! It's fun having a hate-club. ;-)
Later today, I think I'll smite some more Mac users and sacrifice a few babies to my personal god (Bill Gates). LoL, honestly -- if this guy didn't actually believe what he spouts, it'd be pretty funny. As it stands, I just feel sorry for him. I don't want ANY customer to be upset of the product; that's just how I'm wired. I like making sure people are happy. However, I've come to realize that there are some people in the world who don't want to be happy. No matter how much you try to please them, they just enjoy being miserable and letting everyone within hearing distance know it.
Oh, and please don't misunderstand me. Everyone is welcome to post whatever gripes they have where ever they wish to post it. I don't agree with the idea of censorship (within reasons), and I think everyone should have a venue to vent. But when you start getting banned, that means you've gone over the top. When you're banned from multiple sites on multiple occasions, you've gone from venting to legally harassing.
He's right in one way. RB2005 makes him lose hundred of hours. However the productivity is lost on figuring ways on how he could theoretically lose productivity by using the product. I bet he never even got past the 10 days demo of 2005r1 (which was very buggy compared to 2006r1)
I'm not certain which versions he used. But I am certain that multiple people (at least 4 that I know of) within the company contacted him to try to see what we can do to make him happy. He hung up.
Well, he's been complaining since day one, and he's made it clear he would never buy 2005... So I figure he only used 2005r1. Well for what it's worth, I think you guys did an outstanding job, and it keeps getting better and better. The people who appreciate your work are a lot less loud than the chronic complainers, I hope you know that.
Oh, I know -- and I stopped taking this guy seriously when he started trying to post messages to my blog saying that I personally was out to destroy his life and should die. Heh.
And thanks for the kudos, it's nice to hear that some people like the product (aside from myself)! :-)
Do you guys use RB2005/6 on a daily basis yet or still 5.5.9 or whatever your custom version was called?
We use 5.5.9 to build RB200X still (due to lack of version control, basically), but we all are using RB2006 for our own projects. For instance, I've got at least a dozen projects that use 2006.
So I use both 5.5.9 and RB2006 on a daily basis. But I use 2006 more (since I use it on the weekends too).
You should see what he's been up to on comp.lang.basic.realbasic recently! His latest alias is "kodze", but he's also used a couple of others that I've noticed.
