So after getting 14 hrs of sleep on Friday night. 13 hours on Saturday. And 11 hours on Sunday....
I feel healthy! LoL, I still have a somewhat runny nose, but I don't think I'll need to take the NyQuill tonight (though I might anyways, just to be safe).
However, I still feel like my brain is functioning at about half speed.
I decided that I'm going to have mom and dad over for Valentine's Day and cook them a really nice supper. I figure that they cooked plenty for me over the years, it might be nice to do the same for them as a special treat. They had no plans for the day otherwise, so I thought this'd be nice.
But I must admit, I'd much rather be cooking for Lis than for my parents. This is our first Valentine's day spent apart, and it sucks. I miss her, but I get to see her in a little over a week! So we're holding off on festivities until I get down to Austin. Then I plan to double-time it. :-D
We've got a campsite reserved on Inks Lake for the first weekend I'm down there. We're going to go camping and hiking and stuff. It'll rock. Then at some point I hope to cook Lis a real nice dinner to make up for the one I can't cook her tomorrow. :-)
I got more of the house cleaned today. Got everything out of the kitchen that doesn't belong there, and I even got the livingroom arranged a little nicer. The house is really starting to shape up to be more than just a recepticle for strewn-about crap. :-P Now I just have to finish off the basement (cuz that'll happen in a weekend!)
On a final note, I think I am going to come up with a filtering system that watches for "tired old arguments" and pipes them to /dev/null. People seem to flog the same dead horse over and over again on the mailing lists, which is why I'm glad I don't have much to do with them anymore. I swear there are weeks when I get more emails on these "debates" than I do Q & A (which, I may need to remind some of you, is the entire purpose to the mailing lists). At least in the forums those debates happen in an off-topic area (most of the time) and I can choose to ignore them. With the mailing lists, I just end up with a whole bunch of wasted bandwidth.
Again, you have the Admin presence to declare [OT] threads KILLED and move or at least suggest they move to the forum.
I didn't read through each Delphi post for this very reason, did you try this there? There's still time!! :D
By filtering them out you'll lose tangential notes by users to new to understand that changing the subject line is important for visibility, let alone the ever-losing battle of trying to retain reply-to message threads ...
Bayesian won't be your friend here, due to rabid quoting.
Well, there's a few issues with killing threads in the mailing lists. The foremost one is that the threads rarely die until I kill it three or four times (and even then, I'm just adding to the noise). On the forums, I can lock a thread and that's the termination of it. No more noise.
I've got a different solution in mind for the mailing lists which I may (or may not) post about later.
I do NOT feel healthy. Bah.
And you and Lis will have lots of fun when you go down there:) YAY!
