Things I would love to have!

Heh, since I'm in a list-making mood lately. :-P

  • A new gaming system with all the good games for it. Any system'll do.
  • The dragon book

  • A wacom tablet so I can do Classic Ramblings again
  • The entire Lord of the Rings DVD set (and since I'm on the topic, I wouldn't mind a hard-cover copy of the Hobbit, et al, though I do have the hard cover trilogy itself)
  • New computer hardware (preferably a new desktop system, but I'll take a laptop as well) -- not a Mac. ;-)
  • A king-sized bed
  • A new couch and loveseat for the livingroom
  • A new pair of slippers
  • A two-week vacation to an island somewhere with Lis
  • A spam-free life. Good gods does the spam pile up. I got 520 email spams. Today. Not counting comment spam in the moderation queue for the blog.
  • The entire set of Fraggle Rock DVDs. And while I'm begging, Transformers too.
  • My own personal library with a nice comfy couch in front of a fireplace as a place to read. Oh yeah, with a nice end table so I have a place to set something to drink or snack on
  • Perfect code the first time, every time
  • More hours in the day
  • A faster laptop -- this thing just chugs along man...
  • A non-receding hairline and no gray in my goatee. Boy do I feel old lately!
  • A hottub for my house

- Fraggle Rock rocks. My mom is collecting the set, so I'll get to watch it. :)
- LOTR DVD set: got it, love it.
- Hot tub: oh yeah, couldn't agree more
- Non-receding hairline: a few months ago, I said "screw it" and shaved it all off. Not enough hair to make it worth maintaining anymore. :P

I have the Dragon Book :P I'll trade it (for the duration of your reading) for a case of beer or something... or maybe your first born child.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking to own it. So how about a first AND second born? ;-)

hmmm, if they have receding hair-lines, then maybe not :)

I have a copy of the Dragon Book (actually it is sitting in my sisters house right now), I will wrap it up and send it out as soon as I get home, ok?

Bill, why in god's green earth do you have a copy of the dragon book when you mock me for being a propeller head? ;-) I am seeing you in a totally different light. :-P

If you feel like giving away a treasure such as the dragon book, I sure won't complain. But don't feel like you have to.

Just curious: why not a Mac? For example, the MacBook Pro has a Core Duo Intel processor and can run Windows (only Vista, but you have Vista!). Plus its hardware design is far, far better than any Windows notebook I've seen, ever.

, I have my mysteries. One of them was taking a few compiler design courses in college. But shhhhh, it's jsut between you and me, ok? I wouldn't want any of my friends to think of me as a 'propeller-head'...

I kept reading for a while that a second edition of the Dragon book was coming out, but it never seemed to get released.

Adam, i think he doesn't like Macs enough to want one. That doesn't surprise me, though - some people like grapes, some like cherries. :)

What does surprise me is that he doesn't have the LOTR trilogy on DVD! Why don't you already have it?

Have you tried the Cintiqs? That's what I'd rather have - though I'd need a better desk to accomodate it. :D

Definitely agree with Transformers. it's been so long since I've seen Fraggle Rock, though, that I don't know if I'd want it or not.

Oh my goodness... that book is $110 ?!?!?

About the Mac Book Pro, I am sure that there are several other laptops that are similar featured and just as well designed, but usually for that quality of manufacturing you would pay a little more than for an Apple... such as something from Alienware, or the upcoming Asus Lamborghini:

When it comes to low-end models, the Apple is by far the best price compared to quality. It will be interesting to see what happens next week (February 28) with Apple's new product announcements. I hope you still have your Apple stock, Aaron. =)

1. The entire Lord of the Rings DVD set. I've got 2 out of 3 -- gotta get the third!
2. New computer hardware. New Mac laptop on order (woo-hoo!)
3. A king-sized bed. Why bother? The cats will still take up most of it anyway.
4. A two-week vacation to an island somewhere with Lis. Sounds good, but my wife would prefer it if I went with her.
5. Perfect code the first time, every time. You don't have that already? :)
6. No gray in your goatee. I started going gray when I was 21. But only on one temple. I think it may have to do with the fact that I was blond on one temple when I was a baby. My biggest fear was that the gray would spread to exactly to the midline of my head on one side, then stop.

My own list of things I'd love to have:
1. No more migraines! This would be the single most significant improvement in my life. I'd be able to be more active and go outside in the sunlight again.
2. More time to play music and do artwork again.
3. A Wacom tablet and Painter.
4. A flute-or recorder-based synthesizer input device for a computer.
5. An employer who appreciated what I do.
6. I met my wife when I was 27 and she was 33. I wish I'd met her 10 years earlier.

Oh, dear, I'm afraid when I clicked on the dragon link I *really* expected the book to be about dragons [fire-breathing]. Of course, the book is really about compilers.

I can't decide whether I should be proud of this mistake or ashamed of it.

It's ok Russ, you're not the only one! I thought the dragon book was some awesome book about, well, dragons...but knowning aaron...I should have guessed it was comp related.
