Brings back memories

So it's been raining here since last week (about Friday sometime). Not a good thunderstorm-type rain, but just one of those nice soft ones. Reminds me of when I lived in Redmond and it was like this for months on end. :-P What's strange is, the dreary scenery never really bothered me when I lived there. Boy was that a pretty place to live; very green. very alive. If you've never been to the Pacific Northewest of the US (or Canada), I'd highly recommend going for a visit sometime.

I got a lot of stuff accomplished this weekend around the house, so that was a nice change. :-)

I got the entire garage organized. Now I just have to put up more shelving and hanging brackets. I'm half tempted to put in a workbench along the far wall as well, but we'll see.

I reseeded the lawn (it was patchy) just before the rain hit. I'm sure most of the seed I laid down has washed away! But since there's some grass in place, I'm hoping it kept a lot of the new seed around. If not (I'll know within a few weeks), it's not like it takes that long to reseed the lawn when you have a broadcast spreader handy. Hopefully within a month or so I can fertilize the lawn, too!

All three of my pine trees died over the winter, so I pulled them out and hauled them to the compost pile (along with a bunch of leaves from mom and dad's house). Oh well, such is life (or death, in this case). I'm going to replace them with sapplings from a nursery this time and see if they do better. All the rest of my trees are leafing out, which is awesome! The shade trees should be good this year. :-)

Finally, dad and I finally hung my tapestry in the entryway. It looks great, and it's nice to not have such bare walls down there. But boy does it accent the fact that most of the house still needs to be decorated. :-P

On the list of things to get done soon: I want to start planting things in the yard pretty quick. Flowers, shrubs and the new trees. I'm thinking of putting a retaining wall around the house and putting bushes and whatnot in there. I'm going to grab some ferns from mom and dad's place, as well as some lilacs. I'm also hoping to get some sunflowers planted so I can get yellow finches around the house again. If we get a stretch of nice weather, I may go play in the dirt for a while.

I ended up doing real work this weekend as well. My serial article is in the review stages of life, so it's almost complete. So far, it's at 33 pages long. Another monster, I guess. I also did work for RS; fixed a handful of quicky bugs that annoyed me while I played with the latest alpha.

I've still found time to play Oblivion (usually until the wee hours of the morning). Damn is that game addicting. So I'm now the arch-mage (which is funny cuz I can barely cast a spell -- I'm a warrior, not a mage!), as well as the Listener for the Black Hand. What's great is that my fame is still out-ranking my infamy by leaps and bounds. :-D I'm still doing some of the main quest, but frankly, I'm getting tired of shutting down these stupid Oblivion Gates for all the whiny towns. Dear god, you have entire legions of idiot gaurds (who instantly know anytime I've done anything wrong, no matter where I am in the world) -- can't you put them to use aside from bugging me?

You know shutting down the gates is optional, right? Except for about 3 that are part of the main quest.

Good for loot, though.

BTW, The Dark Brotherhood quests is some of the finest gameplay you've ever seen in any RPG ever. Seriously. I almost cried when that came to an end.

33 pages long? Trying to muscle in on my territory? ;-)

BTW, when are you resuming publication?

@James -- I'm to the part where I need to send aid to Bruma, which I thought was part of the main quest. But it looks like I don't need to do that -- just go grab some goods from Tiber Septim. w00t!

@Scott -- It's not my longest by any means. ;-) And we'll be publishing new stuff once Bill gets back from the dead.

I thought The Dead stopped touring when Jerry died.

I saved and did it both ways, and there's really no difference based on how much aid for Bruma you get. If you get 4 cities'-worth of aid, or no cities, the NPCs fight about the same and kill about the same number of daedra, more or less. You can make up the difference with a couple healing potions, so basically, getting aid isn't really worthwhile unless you want the lewt. (One of the gates has a quest in it to find a missing son, also. I can't remember which city.)
