Holy hannah was today a productive one for me. I went out last night, and didn't make it back until the wee hours of the morning. Went and watched Plan B play out at Trobec's in St Stephen. Very good show -- I'd highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area. Needless to say, I woke up a bit groggy this morning. ;-)
So after rolling out of bed a little after 10am, I decided to hit the ground running. I got up and got the lawnmower working for the season. It took a bit of jiggery to make it go since it was a bit out of tune. But she's up and running, w00t! It took me almost two hours to mow the lawn since I was constantly stopping to pull weeds and pick rock. Bleh. But the yard looks pretty nice, it's filling in a little bit. Looks almost nice when you check it out cross-grain. ;-)
After getting the lawn mowed, it was time to start getting stuff planted for the season. I got random flowers put in around the trees (about 10 different seed varieties), as well as some fertilizer put down. Then I planted about 30 sunflowers around this big green electrical box in the front yard (to hide it and attract finches). Then I got two planters of morning glories, and one planter of 4-o'clocks and marigolds. Sometime in the next evening or two I plan to get the herb garden put in, as well as some zinnias, baby's breathe, more 4-o'clocks and marigolds. Phew! Hopefully my house will look respectable. :-P
Of course, to be able to plant stuff in the boxes, I needed to go out shopping and get some potting soil. I also stopped out at Home Depot to talk to Clint about sprinkler pumps. Had a nice conversation with him and walked away much smarter (which always happens, Clint is a plumbing genius). When I got back home, I had a break and hung out with my neighbors for a while (Lance and Anita).
After my break is when I went back to doing my planting. But I was interrupted by my other neighbor (Jesse), who needed some help spreading black dirt around his yard. One snapped rake and a sore back later, we got his entire back yard spread with black dirt. He's gotta get at least one more load though, so I'm not totally done helping him out. I met his cats -- both are cute. One callico and the other is a tabby. Neither one's name I remember. :-P But I'm sure I'll end up cat-sitting some day, so I'll learn em then. :-P
Needless to say, I'm rather tuckered (and slightly sun-burnt to boot). I'll sleep well tonight! But it was nice to get so much stuff done around here. I just wish Lis was here to garden with me. I'm sure we'd have a blast working on a garden together. Hopefully by next year's planting season I'll have roped her into moving up here. ;-)
Oh well, off to shower and then nap or play Oblivion (or both).
OOP has landed.
I repeat.

Don't forget to salt the sunflowers. ;)
