Wow, if this isn't an all-time low..

So one of the things I like to do on occasion is check my referrer logs to see how people find my site. Every once in a while, I'll find people discussing it on some forum or another, or people arriving from comments I've left on others blogs. It's just a fun little thing.

But lately, as in within the last month, I've noticed that the vast majority of the items in my referrer logs are spam links. Who the hell does referrer log spam? I mean, come on, honestly. The only people in the world dumb enough to actually respond to spam probably have never even heard of a referrer log, and so they're missing their target.

It's gotten to the point where I've stopped bothering to look at the information since I don't want to spend my time grokking whether the address is bogus or not. The majority of them are.

Has anyone else noticed this trend? Or am I the only whack-job around here who looks at referrer logs?

Oh yeah, I've been noticing that for a while now...

By default, a lot of blog software displays the "recent referrers" on the main page. That's why it was so popular to spam.
