First snow of the year

Let the fun begin! It's snowing outside in MN and has been for most of the afternoon. It's just a light fluff that melts when it hits the ground, but it's still nice to see. It's a whopping 36 degrees outside right now. :-) However, this won't last -- I think it's supposed to hit 60's to 70's again by the weekend.

Hopefully the weather turns nice by this Friday -- Abe and Krista are getting married. :-) I was over at Krista's parent's place last night, helping to carve pumpkins for the wedding (they're being used as decorations). Had a nice time doing that -- we carved up 15 pumpkins. Twas fun!

Tonight's fun will be racquetball with Adam, and hopefully a hottub/sauna afterwards (I've been feeling rather sore lately, for no apparent reason). Then I get to come home and watch one of my three NetFlix DVDs that came today. I think I'll start with Samurai Champloo so that Brady can get it quicker. ;-)

I now have a shower in the basement -- the plumbers came with it today. So that project is coming along nicely. w00t!

That's all for now.

Yeah, we got hit with flurries yesterday afternoon. It's been on and off all day today. Had snow out my window just 5 minutes ago... Nothing now... Not even any evidence of it on the streets...

I sure hope it gets nice here this weekend... I don't want to have to break out my parka just yet :P

I wish it were snowing here...it's supposed to get cold this Friday, though - into the 30's overnight. I can't wait!

Snow? Yuck! My wife and I have a tradition of breaking out the tequila for shots on the first night of snow. I suggest trying it.

Ha! I think that's a brilliant tradition. In Texas, we're just happy it's not 95+ anymore.

Yeah, I remember Texas! I went to graduate school in Houston. We'd spend Christmas day swimming.

We'd swim on Christmas day but I think the lake would be a tad cold for most of you.

We had snow .... in August ... right before we got a foot of hail and then it was 27C by 5PM. Made everything steam like mad

For anyone that has not grown up with snow I'm sure all you can think is "Brrrr ... cold" but I'm sure Aaron will back me up when I say "SNOW ! Do you know the fun pranks you can play on people with SNOW !" Snow is lots of fun

Like who'd ever bury their friends car in sand or dirt ?

But with snow it's easy.

And they get really pissed off if you then wet the snow down with a few hundred gallons of water and let it freeze over night. Try explaining that one to your boss the next morning when you're a couple hours late for work :)

Snow is LOTS of fun !

Thanks, Aaron - You just said my favorite (note the sarcasm) four letter word. (Which, in my case, is the cause for a flurry of other four, three, and many-lettered words, the results of which stem from how other people drive around in that four-letter word. Which, of course, makes me wonder about the State license system, which seems to have a knack for handing licenses over to these people who should not be on the road.)

I miss the days when I could think like Norman and Aaron.... (I remember sledding down the same hill I now work directly across from - wierd, ain't it?)

I still think up fun ways to sabotage friends in the winter.
Snow factors into a great number of them.
Like building a wall of snow in front of their doors so they cant leave their house :)
Or packing enough snow under their car that you actually lift it ever so slightly :)
Filling their air vents with snow is the winter counter part to filling them with confetti in the summer :)

Snow is four letter word and unfortunately it does seem to induce a great deal of stupidity when combined with vehicles.

Oh, and as an "old guy" it's still fun
I'm 45 and still go toboganning with my 20 and 16 year old daughters :)

I agree with Wayne... snow is definately a four letter curse word, lol!
Glad to hear that you enjoy it though... it would suck otherwise. ;)

Ummm....all this hate talk of snow is making me a little nervous. I'll like it, right Aaron??

You'll love it just fine -- the whiners are simply curmudgeonly or never have experienced the joy and bliss of snow. Listen to Norman and I, snow r0x0rs!

(Remember guys, I want her to move up here, so ixnay on the hatay of snow-eh?)

Elissa, sorry to make it sound bad, but the only really bad thing about snow, apart from getting used to it being cold, is that people who live in an area for a long time seem to go stupid and numb during the summer and forget how to drive in the winter. (At least, that's how it is in my area!)

I think it really depends on who you're with - I'm a loner, so there's not a lot of fun to be had nowadays apart from me whipping snowballs at idiot drivers (and looking stupid for having done so.) Many people I know who like this weather are either not loners, or loners who aren't bothered by it.

Me, I think I'd enjoy it more if I was driving again - Doughnuts in the school parking lot at 4 AM!

I love snow: it tastes good. I just wish I got more where I live. We only get a few inches every year :(

NEVER EAT YELLOW SNOW !!!

actually any snow that is not white :)

Snow is fun. Lots of fun winter sports. Skating is fun. Tobogganning is a blast and tubing on the snow .... it's too funny to tell

Hit YouTube and search for "Winter Tubing" or something similar and enjoy (and laugh like crazy)

I agree with norman and Aaron, snow is wonderful! And it's even more special for me because we only get 1-2 good snows a year in Virginia.

Snow sure makes snowmobiling a lot easier :P And I doubt Banff would be quite so popular without snow :P

Banff is busy all the time snow or no snow

Signs are in English, Japanese and .... some other foreign language ...

oh yeah French !

@Norman: Yeah. I live in Winnipeg and this August I was out to Calgary, Banff, Kelowna and Vancouver for my vacation. Banff was packed. IIRC, you in Calgary. Boy, I sure envy that... being only an hour from the mountains :) AND you can see them from Calgary :) All I can see from Winnipeg is Regina :P LOL
