Well, I told everyone I had big news, and this is it. I got a major upgrade while I was down in Austin, and I'm really excited about it.
I upgraded girlfriend 1.0 to fiancé 1.0! :-)
That's right, Lis and I are now engaged. It happened on Oct 20, 2006 while out camping at Ink's Lake State Park in Texas. For those of you interested in the gory details, read on. But if you just want to see pictures, they're here.
After a long afternoon (which I'll let Lis talk about in her blog when she posts about it), we finally made it to Ink's Lake and were able to do some hiking. Lis and I sat on our cliff overlooking our favorite view of the park and talked for a while. Then, as the sun set, I asked her if she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me, to which she responded "of course." And now we're engaged! :-)
Here's a picture of where I proposed:
Here's one of Lis, I and the ring:
If you want the full story, you'll have to beg Lis or I to blog about it (or ask me in person). It's rather humorous. ;-)

Congratulations Aaron! That's awesome news, and you even have pictures to eventually show the grandkids how it was done in the ol' days. :-)
I was married once.. Once.
I have a bit of advice for you when you are finally married. When you are married, whatever you do, don't think of it as "Okay, I caught her and now she's mine". Keep doing those same things you did to "get" and "keep" her in the first place. It's not over, my friend. It still takes the same amount of work it did before the marriage (maybe more)!!
Congrats!
well said christopher!
I agree wholeheartedly with Christopher. And don't forget to remind Lis every so often of what made her special to you in the first place (and all the things she's added to the list since then). I still do that after 23 years -- Barbara needs to hear it and I love telling her anyway.
Oh... I almost forget. My engagement story: Barb and I got engaged on Valentine's day. First, I got on one knee and asked her if she'd marry me. She said yes, then said she wanted to ask me too. So she got on her knee and asked. I answered "Hmm....let me think about it a while."
Awesome!
Congratulations, ya'll!
Marriage is great, you're gonna love it!
Well, well, well! I'm at home on fall break and away from my RSS feeds, but I figured I'd check in since it seems about the right time for there to be an update. Go figure! Congratulations!!!! I wish you the best.
Huge congratulations. Although, you must really know you're a nerd when you announce your engagement with 'major upgrade'! When the kids arrive it'll be Aaron 2.0 or Elissa 2.0. Maybe it'll be an Aarolissa 1.0?
Ha ha...word travels fast doesn't it my friend.
Congratulations, and best wishes for a long and happy life together, Aaron!
That's a great photo of you two together, and Lis looks radiant!
Congratulations and many happy returns
Way to go! You've done enough testing in Dev and UAT, time to push to Production!
Cheers, Jordan
Congrats to Aaron and Lis! Or is that Lis and Aaron? :) All the best, you two! :)
And hey, look.... Aaron already got things started with a new house! :) hehe
As everyone else has said congrats! So any plans for forking child processes soon??? LOL!
Sorry I couldn't resist the bad programmer hurmor
Congratulations to both of you! I wish you a happy life together.

All I want to know is what about our laundry ?
Wouldn't Fiancé 1.0 technically be Girlfriend 2.0? So when will it be Marriage 1.0, aka Fiancé 2.0 aka Girlfriend 3.0?
Congratulations! :D
When Wife 1.0 overwrites Beer Night with the Boys 1.0 ?
Congrats! My best wishes to you both!
Congratulations to both of you and remember Christopher and Scott Steinman words.
Congrats and God bless the both of you. Marriage is a great thing, just don't forget what got you there in the first place.
