Busy Day!

I spent the better part of my day working on articles for RBLibrary.com One article is done and posted (an article about RBScript). The other two are pretty sweet too. One is on writing plugins for your application. The other is about container controls. But editing has taken up almost the entire day for me. It's fun, don't get me wrong. But it's also hard.

I did get some non-RB work done too! I managed to get all of my Fall decorations taken down, and all of my x-mas decorations put out. By the time Lis moves up here, the house should be quite inviting. :-)

I'm still loving the new laptop -- I've been finding reasons to play around on it. New toys rock!

I hope everyone else is enjoying their mini - vacations. Anyone have fun turkey-day stories they'd like to relate?

I got an old computer (well, not too old, but old enough) to do something with, just I don' t know what yet. Maybe I'll turn it into a small server. Or try some distributed computing stuff out.

That's cool! I used to take my old machines and make them into mp3 servers back when I lived in an apartment. But my office is centrally located enough now that I can just turn my music on there and hear it anywhere in the house, so I don't bother any more. :-P

I got even more productive tonight and did some work on my OBD II application. I started over yet another time. ;-) Only this time, it took me about an hour to get the application running. I'm further along now than the previous two times -- I can read any of the stats on my Ford F150 now. The only thing I have to do now is encapsulate things better, make it not Ford-specific and then start building a UI for it. Very sweet, if you ask me. Even more sweet because it gave me an excuse to play on my new laptop. ;-)

My turkey day was spent moving all my stuff from one MacBook Pro to a new Core 2 one :)

My wife dropped her MacBook so I bought a new Pro and gave her the "old' one.
The old MacBook has been repaired and will go to my parents to replace the 10 year old PowerBook 3400c they've been using but they don't know it yet

So I've had to reinstall a few things and decided I should grab a couple other linux distros to play with under Parallels along with XP, Suse and Fedora 3 so I got Fedora 6 and Ubuntu to have a go with.

Set up an LDAP server in my house for some work I'm doing and played around with it (it's been a while since I've had to use one seriously)

That's about it .... mostly geeky kinds of stuff

it was nice though

oh yeah ... helped track down a bug in REALbasic with some drunkard :)

Hurry up with that plugin article! I need to read it!
