So now that it's getting back towards the winter months (at least on this side of the equator) and people are getting more time on their hands, RBLibrary.com is looking for authors. This past year (almost -- it'll be one year towards the end of January) has been *very* good for RBLibrary, and we're looking forward to next year being even better. However, we couldn't be doing as well as we are without the help of an awesome staff of authors.
So are you interested in making some good money while simultaneously showing the RB community your brilliance? Do you have a particular strength that you'd like to demonstrate to the world? Do you enjoy teaching others and helping them to learn concepts? If so, then you should consider writing for us.
We've got an extremely competitive compensation package for our authors by paying both an up front fee as well as monthly royalties. We also have a pleasantly flexible schedule, so there aren't huge looming deadlines for you to worry about. Between that and the handsome editing staff, there's no reason *not* to write for us!
We're looking for authors to write on a plethora of topics, including plugins, charting, graphics, office automation and more! However, if you'd prefer to write an article that's not on the current editorial calendar, that's fine as well -- we're always open to suggestions from authors.
If you're interested in becoming an author, please send me an email (aaron@rblibrary.com) and explain what sort of articles you'd be interested in authoring. Make a pitch about the article, as well as a timeframe in which you think you could have the article finished by.
I can think of a reason not to write.... Because I am noob!
I would love to, especially having gone through a lot with RealBasic. Is there any specific publishing tools I would require, what do you generally use ? I would prefer openOffice/Scribus and the like.
I promise to get my articles finished once I find the missing item I need for them...my brain! Final exams on Monday, and the semester from hell ends. I'll be visiting my parents in NYC after that, then maybe I can catch up.
By the way, it's ironic that I'm writing about OOP and QA just as I'm trying to rewrite a colleague's 20 year old VIC-20 BASIC program without documentation. I'm forced to do the worst programming of my life -- tons of global variables, no classes -- just to get it running at all with as few remaining GOTOs as possible.
@talk2sk -- we use MS Word (.doc format) for doing all the editing due to its good revision tracking tools. But I'm pretty sure people have submitted articles for editing which they made using Open Office.
@Scott -- your brain is attached to your eyes, ya know. ;-) And good luck on your porting; that sounds painful! Also, good luck on your finals (but luck has nothing to do with that -- I've heard you lecture).
Just sent in my top secret HOW TO on plugins
It's not a primer on writing a plugin but a more advanced one
Not sure I'm allowed to preannounce the topic here though
@norman - Shucks. Beat me to it ;-) Now I have got to put my thinking cap on.. (where did I put that thing ?)
This one isnt a "how to make a plugin"
It's how to make a plugin to provide a plugin API for your RB application.
So you already should know how to make plugins.
oh there it's preannounced :)
