I'm really stoked because very soon (crossing my fingers) I will have moved ramblings (and my main site) over to babbage-tech servers and off 3shost. Part of this awesome transition is the fact that I'm finally updating my blogging software. I'm using an old version of WP, and when the upgrade happens, I'll be using a new version of Movable Type. I played around with it a bit while trying to find blogging software that meets my needs, and I suspect it's going to be very awesome. However, I am a bit worried as I have seen some people have problems with it. Hopefully I won't be one of those people (and if I am, I still have the WP database, so I could always upgrade to the latest WP, though I don't want to). Adam has been totally awesome about this conversion process. He wrote a WP 1 to MT 3 converter tool that takes the entire WP database and converts it into the form MT requires and then MT rebuilds its static files. What's more, Adam's going the extra mile and making sure that old links to ramblings posts (of which there are many) will still work and redirect to the correct MT post. Seriously, if you need work done (web or general programming) Adam and Ryan over at babbage are absolutely amazing.
I'm hoping to make the switch sometime this week, so you may experience some intermittent strangeness as the DNS is swapped world-wide and such. Also, knowing me, I think the look and feel of the new site will change a few times before I settle on something I enjoy.
Sounds like we are going to have to move RBLibrary over to Adams servers Aaron.
Once the transition for aaronballman.com is complete, we plan to start the RBLibrary transition.
Why does the name babbage-tech reminde me of the old Babbages stores? Man that was a long time ago. ;)
I so do not look forward to futzing with a stable setup, but I guess we have to have some pain for forward progress.
Semper Fidelis.
