It's that time of year again: deer hunting season. I'm going to be down in the Whitewater area of Minnesota with dad and my uncle Otto for the weekend. The plan is to be gone this afternoon and come back sometime Monday, but if we get our deer earlier, then we're going to come home.
This year we're going to be camping down in the valley instead of up in the farm hill. So this should be interesting -- I've not been down there for a long time. Since I don't hunt (I just eat the deer, I don't shoot them -- and provide an extra license), I'll be spending plenty of time out hiking and reading. I picked up four books from the library yesterday, so we'll see how many of them I make it thru over the next couple of days.
Like last year, I'm going to be out in the tent instead of in the crowded Scamp. Hopefully the weather holds this year. Last year we had freezing rain, which made it a lot less fun since you never really wanted to be outside and inside the tent wasn't much more appealing. This year it looks to be sunny, but nippy. Not as cold as some years, but not as warm as others.
In any event, I'm probably not going to be updating the blog this weekend because I won't have access to any electronics. So be good! ;-) See you Monday!
>I just eat the deer, I don’t shoot them...
Yeah, me too. :) I love venison, but I don't have the heart for the actual hunting.
Good luck! I love me some venison!
You want deer ? Pay me a visit. We have tons of deer around here. Mules and white tails. They live all over out here and I have a small herd that live on my property. They eat everything which frustrates the heck out of my wife; the gardener. The dog won't even chase them as I'm pretty sure she realizes she cannot catch them. Although she will chase foxes.
Or maybe any of the moose that are here although they don't issue that many tags for them around here.
If you care to shoot coytoes you can just bring a gun as there are no tags required. The dog won't chase the coyotes either.
I was beginning to worry that Aaron was a geeky hunter. At least I read further and saw that he isn't.
Have Fun *camping* ;)
MMMMMMmmmmmm venison! :D Makes great chili!
Dude, I've got a few varieties of venison in my freezer. Stop by sometime. Andrea doesn't like it, and I can't eat that much by myself.
I'll trade ya venison for punkin' bars ;)
I'm kind of partial to bear.
My friends had this big feast with moose, deer, big horn sheep, bear and a number of different fish (pike, bass wall eye's and something else)
I'd never eaten bear til this year and it was by far the best there.
Awesome stuff but has to be well done becuase they carry a few nasties :)
