I spent my Friday night staying up late and working on an article for RB Developer/RBLibrary, and got it most of the way done. Unfortunately, I've just not had the chance to finish it up, but hopefully will get to it tonight.
Saturday was cleaning day since I was having company over. So I got the house in reasonably good shape (not the best it could have been, but better than it was before). My cousin Kelly got over around 3pm, and we BSed for a while until her brother Andy got over. Then we had a few beers, Andy took off (he had a 2.5 hr drive ahead of him), but his little sister Maggie took his place. More beer, a House of Pizza dinner and The Village movie ensued. Around 2am, Maggie went back to her apt here in St Cloud, and Kelly crashed on my couch. We had a blast -- it's always fun hanging out with my family.
This morning, I got up and hung out with Kelly until about 11am, when she took off for home. Then I watched the Vikings not bother to show up for yet another game. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Vikings fan. But I have about as much faith in them as I do in Bush being a good leader or ice cream cones not melting in the Texas summer sun. It was better than their usual slop, but still a pretty bad game. But a nice diversion.
I spent the rest of the afternoon winterizing. I put more leaves down over my plants and soaked them, so that's all set. Then I cleaned the garage out a bunch -- getting ready for the day when Lis can park her car in there next to my truck! She moves up next month, ya know. ;-) But yeah, most of the afternoon was spent on being a homeowner.
The fun for my free time tomorrow involves returning a bunch of random stuff to Home Depot, picking up pipe wrap and doing a bit of pipe insulation in the basement. Once that's done, I just need to move stuff out of the basement so that it can be sheetrocked, which is happening the first week of December. I don't think the basement will be done by the time Lis gets here, but it should be looking like a basement at least.
So yeah, the hope for tonight is to finish up my article and contact a few awesome-looking potential authors. We'll see if my ambition for getting work done lasts though... that may have to wait for Monday if I keep fading.
I hope everyone had a good weekend though!
You forgot the part where you talked to me for 2 hours about random stuff, that was the highlight of my day anyways!
that's beauty of working for yourself ...
1) you can always correctly complain about how bad the boss is
2) you can have 5 day weekends in the middle of the week if you REALLY need them (of course you then work a week in 2 days but ....)
3) company policy always matches your priorities :)
now I just have to fnish off my work week as it's sunday evening already and there's still 6 more hours of work to do :)
