Today has been a good day. My PayPal account is back up and running, so I've restored my donations link to point to my normal account. Yay, I can accept all those millions of dollars again. :-P I'm quite happy about this, because I hate when I release an awesome product like Advanced Graphics for Windows and don't really have a way to accept donations.
But that's not all. I bought me a new lappy whose name is tabby. Yes, that's right, I have a tablet PC coming my way. A convertible, actually. It's one of those spiffy laptops where you can swivel the display around and it becomes a tablet. Got one that's pretty much soup-to-nuts too. 2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of RAM, 100 GB hard drive (7200 RPM, not that 5600 slow stuff. ;-)), 1200x768 14" resolution. And it's Vista ready (of course). Should be arriving here just after Thanksgiving. Yay! :-)
I got to hang out with Lou and Dana last night, which was awesome. They weren't able to stay too long because Dana had to get back to do homework, but it was still damned nice seeing her. I've missed her friendship and feel stupid for letting it lapse. We're hoping to go bowling sometime this weekend, which will be fun.
I miss Elissa and can't wait for her to get up here. We're going to have so much frickin fun! She will be up here next month, which is awesome! I'll be going down to Texas in less than a month to watch her graduation, have Christmas with her family (scary!) and then move her up here. Wahoo!
I got together with mom and dad for lunch today at Jimmy's Pour House in Sauk Rapids. Damn, they have good food. It was nice seeing them both too; we pretty much just hung out and BSed for about an hour. Nothing too terribly much happening on the home front, which is good. Dad's had a clean bill of health, and mom's still kicking ass and chewing bubble gum.
Why does today feel like a Friday?
Congrats on the new tablet PC.
I am so jealous. I want a tablet PC also!
It is good to be able to pay Authors again!
What kind of tablet? I'm on my second Fujitsu, and they've both been great (both were convertibles, which is really nice).
@Bill -- so go get one. ;-)
@Brad -- It's a Gateway CX210X. The price was really good for what you get, so I figured it was worth a shot.
Oh yeah, and to compound awesome with more awesome -- I just finished the Samurai Champloo series tonight. :-D
Load it up with VMWare so you can at least run Windows and Linux on it for when you're away from home and working.
Mmmm... VMware, my new best friend at work :P
'Grats on the new tablet. Several of the managers here have them. Look really fun to use. Sounds like it's got some horsepower to it too :) Now the real question is: Is it powerful enough to play World of Warcraft? :)
@Scott -- of course it's powerful enough. :-) This thing is fairly well souped up.
@Norm -- It'll run Windows anyways, and if I'm away from home and working, I'll still have access to a Linux box. I think the whole 100 GB is gonna go towards Windows. :-)
Great Job!! Nice to hear everything is back to normal in the Universe! ;)
New toys are always fun :) If you went with any type of extended warranty through Gateway, make sure you double- and triple-check they got it. I bought me a nice Gateway a few years ago, got the 3yr warranty, and after two or so years, started having some minor issues with the DVD-R drive. Then the ethernet jack died (though I still have 802 and PCMCIA).
I tried contacting Gateway to see how I needed to go about getting it fixed. Well, it turns out that while I _DID_ get a confirmation email that I bought the warranty, the purchase never actually went through, so they refused to repair my b0rken laptop.
On another note, anyone want to buy a gently used Gateway laptop? ;)
