Well, this weekend's been rather busy, but still an enjoyable one.
On Friday night, Lou came over for a short while to have a very distracted nerd night. He brought his girlfriend's baby along, who spent most of the evening crying. Always a blast. :-P But we still got some good games of Mario Kart 64 taken care of. I still enjoy Wario's Stadium the most; you can hop that wall at the starting point and get some fantastic times. I think my record is something like 20-30 seconds for a single lap. Heh!
After Lou left (which was rather early), I started getting some of the basement primed, which wasn't exactly the most fun I've ever had on a Friday night, but is still progress.
Saturday morning was the LAN party over at Adam's, which was awesome. It ended up being Adam, Ryan, Doug, Luke and myself all playing local games of BattleField 2. 5 on 50 against the bots. That certainly made for some wonderful stats. :-P It's nice hanging out with those guys -- they're a blast to be around. The LAN completed at 3pm because Adam, Doug and Luke all had Christmas activities to attend to. So I went home and got another room primed.
I'm pet-sitting for my neighbors while they're away on a free trip they won (to Hawaii, the bastards!). So I spent a nice part of the evening over at their house playing with the two cats and one dog. We watched Gangs of New York while I drank beer and ate pretzels and they drank water and ate pet treats. Quite exciting, eh?
After the movie was done and all the animals were ready for bed, I went back home and started a fun example project for Advanced Graphics for Windows. I remember making particle systems for Java, GDI, DirectX and OpenGL back in the day, so I decided to make one using GDI+. After a few hours, I had something on the screen, but it wasn't right.
This morning, I finally tracked down a bug in the library where I was calculating some offsets incorrectly, and once I fixed that, everything was working awesome. So whenever I make the next release, I'll be sure to have a particle system in the examples folder for everyone to play with. After getting that project done, it was time to watch the Vikings again. For once, they actually looked like a semi-solid team. It was quite shocking, until I realized they were playing the Lions who were 2-10 at the bottom of the league. Yay! The Vikes managed to beat the worst team in the NFL! Go Vikes! :-) Oh well, I shouldn't be too harsh -- it's a start.
Then, back to priming! I've now got half the basement done, and I still have a number of hours left to prime tonight. My hope is to get about 75% done this weekend so that I can put the finishing touches on this week before I head to Austin.
Crazy eh? I head down to Austin this Thursday! Man, time is just flying by! Pretty soon I'll be back in MN with Lis in tow! w00t! :-)
