Colder than a witch's... erm.. it's cold.

When I woke up this morning, it was 1 outside. We've reached our high for the day -- 6. This isn't including the wind chill, I might add. Tomorrow's high (HIGH) is slated to be between -4 and -10. That's the high. H. I. G. H.

I love being a Minnesotan! It's strange, but I really do enjoy the cold. Mind you, I won't be out playing in it this weekend. But I don't mind walking in it from the mailbox and back to the house. ;-)

In terms of what I will be doing this weekend... fun stuff! Tomorrow is poker night at Joel's place. It's been a long while since we've gotten the guys back together to play some poker (several months), so it'll be fun to see everyone again and lose my money. Then on Sunday it's the one day out of the year where the entire US shuts down: super bowl sunday! Lis and I are going to make some munchies and watch the big game together. It's going to be a blast.

Speaking of Lis, some congratulations are in order. She got herself a job here in St Cloud to tide her over until grad school starts. She's working for CentraCare (over by Hennin's) doing filing work. Not the best job in the world, but certainly pays well enough. Yay Lis!

I'm looking forward to having a nice weekend. It should be both relaxing and fun. What does everyone else have planned for the weekend?

LOL ... cold is it ?
That's what you get for living in the frozen north part of the country :)

Although I suspect you get more snow that I do here, we get about as cold but it's a nice dry kind of cols so even when it was -38 a while back it was quite nice as it was sunny.

Is it humid there when it's cold ?

No, it's actually a very dry cold here as well. But alas, we have absolutely squat for snow. Less than an inch where I'm at. It's truly bizarre! We're under our average snowfall by something like 4 feet. I feel really bad for the farmers because they rely on the snowfall for their winter wheat (as insulation) and for the moisture in the spring. It's looking like it's going to be a bad farming year.

Norman, I think it may have frozen the sensible parts of his brain.

I am working this weekend, like all the rest. Must be nice to take time off.

@Aaron - wow
We get this nice warm wind periodically, called a chinook locally, that keeps the snowfall from building up to feet thick.
So we get snow and it slowly melts over the next few weeks and then we get some snow and so the cycle goes.
Chinooks are nice becuase you know they are coming it's just a matter of when. We don't often get weeks and weeks of cold.

We're about on average for snowfall, but we've haad more cold weather this year than I recall in a long time.

The farmers here won't really start complaining until March if there's no more snow

@Bill - I'm in Canada so ..... :)

Oh quit yer whining ;-). It was -20 here Tuesday or so, not including wind chill... just plain bitter.

woo cold. Now, if only it would snow!

And congrats to Lis!

@joe - you mean me ? I don't mind the cold.
It was -20 or so & windy yesterday but I was out for 2 hours shovelling the driveway on my tractor

Yes, it's a big driveway and there was lots of snow drifts becuase of the wind. I live in the country. Actually the boonies according to everyone here. We're a long way off the beaten track.

It was nice and sunny so it felt nice.

But it's always nice to come back inside to a warm apple cider after that :)

We had a snow day yesterday. Classes were cancelled. It was in the 30's, but the roads were completely snow- and ice-free!Back when I was in Houston, if one snowflake fell, the entire city shut down.

So different from when I was in college in upstate New York... The snow's not up to your chin? Quit being a baby and walk to your classes!

Flying from Sweden all the way down to New Orleans, LA and guess what - it was colder here than home. First thing to buy (before the Dixie beer and the Hurricane drink...) were mittens to be able to see the town - no ice bears though... Freezing 37F and a cold wind sweeping the town... New week we'll be in Puerto Rico and that should (correction: "must") be warmer... Global Warming - I doubt it...

why do you keep talking about the cold... common, there has to be something better... like butter
