Frickin hot!

Sorry about the lack of updates this past week! I got back from France last Thur (the 30th) pretty late at night, and have spent most of the week trying to get used to life again. It's been super hot out here in SoCal, and that drives me bonkers. But I'm also readjusting to the timezone difference, and been working pretty hard on stuff for 4D.

But that doesn't mean there's not exciting news! We've finalized our moving date, and have gotten a moving company. We're leaving California on June 15th, and both of us are incredibly excited about it.

I was originally figuring that we'd get a U Haul to tow behind the truck. But they cost 700$ for us to rent for the week (for a one-way trip), and the cost of a moving company is only a few hundred more than that. Totally worth the extra cash not to have to monkey around with hauling stuff.

We've already got a ton of plans for things we're looking forward to once we get back. In fact, we've started a list on my white board. :-D Leinie's, puppies, fishing, hiking, gardening, lemonade sipping on the deck, and sports are all up there. I'm also thinking of picking up some husky hockey season tickets, if possible -- I miss good hockey (the Ducks just don't do it for me).

Hey. Make sure with the moving company that you take a VERY close inventory of what you put on the truck for them to move. I've heard of several horror stories of people missing things (like beds and TVs) when the movers get to the destination.

I'm sooo excited for you & Lis to be coming back to Minnesota! Yay! :)

Once you use a moving company you'll never go back to using U Haul again. Let the experts move your stuff. Enjoy boxing everything. :)

How can the Ducks not do it for ya ?

Sure they finished 8th but they beat the # team in the league in convincing fashion and now are about to roll over Detroit (at least the way they are playing the sure seem set to take out Detroit)

They're playing excellent hockey in the post-season (which is when you really want to play your very best anyways) The other 82 games a year are just to get to play in the playoffs so as long as you play well enough to get there ........ :P

Oh ... no I'm not a Ducks fan but I have to admit they have been playing well and have spoiled a lot of folks hope for "their team"
Not unlike Carolina who looks set to knock of the #1 and #2 teams in the East

Gawd I love playoff hockey :)

The Ducks are being pesky little duckers... Go Wings!!

Oh c'mon MIke .... the Wings ? :P

But yeah I'm amazed at how well the Ducks are playing.

But then Carolina is also playing way above their weight class

Aaron, the Ducks dropped the Mighty in the name... totally not named after a movie now.

Norm... yeah the Wings and the Bolts are my teams. My dad grew up in Detroit so I in turn grew up watching the Wings all the time, and then we moved to Florida and the Bolts came into the league a little while after that. I was at game 5 and game 7 against the Flames :-)

I have a great uncle (I think he's a great uncle) that played for the 1935 Wings
Kind of neat bit of history

But, being that my grand parents were from Quebec, my favorite teams are Calgary (grew up there) & Montreal.

College hockey is ok. I really like going to Junior games here (Calgary and Red Deer both have pretty reasonable clubs - Calgary was much better than Red Deer this year)
it's usually pretty intense as all these guys are one step away from playing in the NHL so they really go full tilt all the time
And you never know who will be in the stands - often one or more ex-pros of note

Junior hockey games are a blast! You get to see good upcoming talent at great prices. I miss going to those games on a regular basis... I might have to start that up again.
