Since people like to say things like "Just Google it", and "I googled for that yesterday", I had an interesting thought last night. What if you use Bing as your search engine? "Just Bing it" is natural enough, but what about the past tense? Does one Bang? "I banged that yesterday" seems like something which should be spoken outside of polite company.
Thoughts to ponder, for sure...
Hehe, Aaron, you have too much time on your hands... :-P
Google is to Googled as Bing is to Binged and Yahoo is to Yahooed,Ask is to Asked ?
Of course sometimes there is the left/right pond language difference. It may not be true that American-English has as a rule of grammar "there are no nouns that cannot be verbed", but it often seems to be so.
However, a trademark becoming a verb is often a true measure of market success. Thus in the UK one can do the hoovering before sellotaping a package and in the US one will xerox a document before fedexing it.
Anyway I still use Alta to search :-)
Around here we have a verb: Garbonzo. This is the act of making leftovers last another night by tossing in a can of garbonzo beans (or anything else on hand). Usage: "If we garbonzo the remaining spaghetti sauce, we can avoid having to hit the supermarket tonight".
